Well in our family we've stopped playing Santa. Christmas is no longer an important tradition of presents but rather family gatherings. We've done this for about a few years now and it's worked out quite well for all of us.
The revolution progresses...one family at a time.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to take a BB gun and shoot at all the yard Santas that I see. That way, I'm fighting against corrupt capitalism espoused by the conservatives, while at the same time using my second amendment rights. That ought to confuse the h**l out of them.

The next thing I will do, again, is vocally complain that I am sick of Christmas songs and decorations, even before Halloween has come. Some stores even before my birthday at the end of September. I say we skip exposing Santa for being a slave driver and go straight to public court impalement, using the image of a baby-manger Jesus, an image that has helped to deify and authenticate a day that all comes down to mindless spending and consumerism, to drive Santa's materialistic fat *** deeper onto the stake.

1. Creat a series of Christmas lawn ornaments depicting Santa beating the crap out of Jesus.
2. Claim Christmas is too religious, and force everyone to burn a church.
3. Instead of Christmas crackers, puppy field goal kicks (it's up YARK! it's good!)
4. Point out to school children that Santa abuses animals, forces elves to work in a sweatshop for little pay, eats poorly, and has a long history of B&E and should be avoided.

Big business taking advantage of religion. Somehow I feel a sense of irony.
Why not celebrate the light and warmth of the season,glorify the ideals of love and giving.Point out that these things are the real meaning of Xmas because they are what we ALL revere.Want to have a manger scene?Fine!The traditional Mary and Joseph story holds plenty of powerful meaning like any number mythological tales with a moral theme.Going to church is fine too but it is just another celebratory option like having a Xmas tree or a Santa on the lawn.

I could do with some new ideas, as continually muttering "bah humbug" isn't working too well.
One of my neighbors has bedizened a shrub with a string of old-style Christmas lights. I suspect they're connected in series. I think I should sneak out tomorrow night and unscrew one of the blue lights -- or should I unscrew a red one? I haven't decided.
