The Life Of Brian

I just happened to notice something in the movie while watching it with my girlfriend. The part where there is a rable following Brian after they think he's the Messiah, he gives his gord to someone because he jsut wants to get rid of it & she says something along the lines of, oh his sacred gord we must treat it sacredly or something, then as he runs off his shoe falls off & they have an argument about how it is a sign, some think he wants all to discard their left shoe, some think they should treat the shoe as sacred & some think it is a lesson that they shoudl focus, not on shoes, but on things of the face & head.

This all seems to me to be a reference to the Christian denominations, who all wsorship the same Messiah, but argue about stupid differences in the way they worship Him.

I can't remember who this quote is from, or if it's accurate but it went something like this, I feel it appropriate here...

'I'm tired of watching men who fear God killing each other because they don't fear God in the same way'

I welcome any comments on this, & feel free to utter & any other references in the movie.

It just dawned on you that everything Monty Python does is a parody of society and religion?

Monty Python, as well as being so funny it might kill you, also raise a lot of good points sometimes.

Men - dressed as women - wearing fake beards - to look like men in order to be able to participate in the stoning of a blasphemer.

"What? I only said Jehovah!"

"You're only making it worse for yourself!"

"How could it be any worse?!"

brian - "he's not the massiah, he's a very naughty boy!"

sorry, i just love that soooooo much, bu they, even if monty python's not your cup of tee, always look on the bright side of life

< burst into song >

but anyway, the life or brian (or bwian, as the case may be, along with wodger and many others which i cant rightly remember right now) is filled with avery interesting theology - as are many other monty python films and series's

Along those same lines, I saw a bumper sticker the other day, that I thought was pretty funny and sums how many look at Christianity:

"God and I get along just fine....it's the fan clubs I have a problem with."
