I'm surprised people here don't take that into consideration. The guy could have been the best shot in the world, but even a trained sniper needs to be relaxed and undisturbed to be able to fire precision shots. Being confronted from behind and knowing you've just been found out is the opposite of this.

No, as with much of the commentary here, somebody flung a piece of lead at the candidate that was once president, But beyond that, what it has to do with the OP is beyond me and why I would worry about this beyond being a security failure I don't know?

If he had an entry and exit wound through the brain I'd be impressed, having a bandaged ear doesn't strike me as death defying. In other words it was close to death defying, but not close enough that I'd think he's tough.
