The most beautiful song in the world!

Fougaro by Kaiti Garbi, a Greek singer, is - I think - a likely contender for the title of "Most Beautiful Song in the World".

Please listen, comment, and share a thoughtful suggestion of your own!

Sounds beautiful. Wish I understood the words.

I'm not quite sure if it's meant to be a slow ballad or a something you can dance to but it really lovely, regardless.

I don't know what the lyrics mean, but I do believe they're fairly anti-Turkish or anti-Islamic. A Bosnian artist named Emina Jahovic did a cover of this song, and the Bosnian lyrics were about breaking up with her Turkish boyfriend. I showed the song to a Greek friend for a laugh, and he showed me this Greek version. And then he said:

"No kidding she did it to get back at her Turkish boyfriend! I don't know what the lyrics are in Bosnian, but if they're the same in Bosnian, then she really hit hard!"

I didn't ask for more information because I like the song too much to have to discard it if it's bad. :D

What languages can you read? I believe you're one of the most culturally diverse individuals I've ever encountered. That's awesome. You seem to have a very deep understanding and appreciation of your culture and culture around you. (You could teach so many a thing or two. :))

I speak Bosnian (Croatian/Serbian), through which I can understand a little of most every language between Austria and China. I speak English. I can function in French. I know some Spanish, Italian, etc.

Another song that is surely one of the most beautiful in the world.

It is by Vesna Pisarovic, a Bosnian, and Guiliano, a Croatian of Italian heritage. Two of the most beautiful people, inside and out (especially out :D), in this world.

Vesna Pisarovic i Giuliano - Bjezi od mene

Yes. They are beautiful.

I did find it kind of funny that she looks look angry enough to kick his booty but he's smiling throughout all the scenes where he's not sitting on the bed. :D

This may sound like a really stupid question but is English simple to learn?

The structure of English is easy to learn, I believe. It's identical to German. The problem for me with English is the vocabulary.

For example, to translate:

Dietician = Doktor
Pediatrician = Doktor
Neurosurgeon = Doktor
Psychologist = Doktor
Family Physician = Doktor
Optometrist = Doktor

English has so many different words for everything, it's really annoying and it makes it very difficult to learn. If you listen to people speaking who are not speaking English as their first language, note they always pause to think of the next word when it is a noun.

They have no trouble with all the connecting words. It's always the nouns, the things, that catch them because there's so many.

"I went to the...the... shop! Boutique! And I bought there three... ummm... how do you say? Wool slippers?"

Etc.

Another sincere, whole-hearted entry.

Sessiz Kalma, by the Turkish group Alpay. This is the best of Islamic opera, which is similar to Italian but much lower in the vocal range.

No idea what they're saying, but I cry every time.

My intentions aren't to hijack your thread with questions. So, it's not going to hurt my feelings, if you tell me to take a hike.:D

Have you ever been to the US? If not, do you hope to go?

Oh it's okay, I don't mind. :) This thread was a lonely place before you came - hahaha.

I've actually never been to the United States. I've been to both Canada and Mexico, but not to the United States.

The whole situation with Monica Lewinsky really... hurt me, deeply. Bill Clinton saved my life, as directly and literally as a political leader possibly can. Seeing how so many of the American people tore him down... to me, it was like... I can't even explain it.

It was like spraypainting a house or worship, or pulling the veil off a Muslim woman, or pushing someone down after they help you back up. It was so just so vile and evil to me. I just lost any desire to go.

Now, I might. But not while Bush is in power.

Smoke

Done here.
I'm afraid this is going to make me sound very quaint, but I think one of the most beautiful songs I know is "On Moonlight Bay." There are several good recordings of it, but my favorite is by Alice Faye:

I can't find it on a free site online, but it is available from iTunes. Avoid the recording by the Drifters at all costs; likewise the adolescent mockery perpetrated by the Beatles.

My experiences and opinions are different of course but I believe that I've come from very different circumstances. And I value very much the opportunity to learn from the experiences of others.

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to much of European and Muslim history.

Is Bosnia a safe place to live?

Another of the most beautiful songs in the world. This one is by a legend in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Her name is Jasna and she was the lead singer of Ambassadori, one of Bosnia's most famous bands - people in Moscow and Vienna know who Ambassadori are.

On the side, she's always recorded beautiful and powerful interfaith folk songs. She's devoutly Roman Catholic, and I mean... follows the Pope's every word... devout. But she never mentions this specifically in her songs. She crafts them in such a way that people of any faith can take them as their own.

And here is one of the best: http://media.putfile.com/Jasna---Carolija

Oh yes, very safe. The war is, of course, an exception. But now, as before it, we have one of the lowest crime rates in the world. Violence of any kind is extremely rare and even what does exist is mostly domestic (brothers, spouses, etc.)

That's good news. :) The pictures that you've posted are beautiful. Looks like a place out of a story book. So different from where I live but it's nice to know that beautiful places like that exist.
