As long as you understand that those atheists are not all atheists,
I do. There are some more kind atheists I know in real life.

As long as you understand that those atheists are not all atheists,
This is not Atheism, it's just a secular based religion. Just because you are atheist does not mean you are free of supernatural beliefs, it doesn't mean you embrace materialism, it doesn't mean you accept reason over belief, or agree with the scientific method. All it means is that you don't believe in God; that's it! But there are people who have made a lot of money and sold a lot of books promoting their brand of atheism; perhaps this is just another way of making money. Here is another:
"...
Definitions
Atheism is the comprehensive world view of persons who are free from theism and have freed themselves of supernatural beliefs altogether. It is predicated on ancient Greek Materialism.
Atheism involves the mental attitude that unreservedly accepts the supremacy of reason and aims at establishing a life-style and ethical outlook verifiable by experience and the scientific method, independent of all arbitrary assumptions of authority and creeds.
Materialism declares that the cosmos is devoid of immanent conscious purpose; that it is governed by its own inherent, immutable, and impersonal laws; that there is no supernatural interference in human life; that humankind, finding the resources within themselves, can and must create their own destiny. It teaches that we must prize our life on earth and strive always to improve it. It holds that human beings are capable of creating a social system based on reason and justice. Materialism’s ‘faith’ is in humankind and their ability to transform the world culture by their own efforts. This is a commitment that is, in its very essence, life-asserting. It considers the struggle for progress as a moral obligation that is impossible without noble ideas that inspire us to bold, creative works. Materialism holds that our potential for good and more fulfilling cultural development is, for all practical purposes, unlimited."
Our Vision
I really do think that is hypocritically funny.
I think more fair-minded Christians should be speaking out against the arrogant leaders in their group. When they don't, in reputation, they are going to get painted with the same brush. I think the same about atheists. No i would not agree. My experience with christians has been abysmal.
I would agree that there are some fair minded christians, but not most. The reason i left Christianity in the first place is Christians.
I would say televangelists are arguing harder for their pay packet
So do responses get archived to use as examples to show how atheists ( choose your
words ) if anyone dares criticize ( misrepresent)
them?
We see people post outlandish things about
evolution for a while then vanish, returning to
creoland to boast how they argued a whole roomfull of them Evos to a standstill.
I know a lot of atheists -- myself included -- and I'm struggling to remember when I or any of them ever suggested eradicating religion from society.Atheist have more than disbelief in common, the OP is pointing out how Atheist are not content to coexist with religion, you want to eradicate it from society.

I don't happen to think religion, overall and practiced with fundamentalist precepts, is particularly good for people, but I think they same thing about bad diet, and I'd never have the temerity to tell someone they should change what they eat. I leave the freedom of their choices to them. Ditto religion.
Your sort of post, using the word "they" and "atheist" to mean "all atheists," paints with a wildly broad brush, and is unfair and unworthy of someone who deigns himself to be a "disciple."
I don't agree with that, lots of scientist and intelligent people are religious. It's their drive to be intellectual superior to theists that is colored with selfish pride, that makes them unattractive. It comes out with their irrational ways of talking to theists rudely.
You are a part of tacitly undermining religion. The OP is about people who are open about it.I know a lot of atheists -- myself included -- and I'm struggling to remember when I or any of them ever suggested eradicating religion from society.

Oh the drama! You know what I mean but pretend you don't.You have no idea what I want, and how on earth would one eradicate a belief exactly? You're not making any sense.

It's almost as if you are saying atheists should be censored from criticising religion? In the same thread that you and other theists, are accusing atheists of intolerance, that's pretty ironic. You are a part of tacitly undermining religion. The OP is about people who are open about it.
You guys are not all bad, but the outspoken and people who tend to speak for you, they are horrible.

Irrational? That's just hilarious, almost as hilarious as these endless petty insults theist are aiming at atheists, while accusing atheists of being "rude".
A well argued and reasonable post. I am simply bemused that anyone could view someone like Richard Dawkins as remotely threatening. Yet we always have theists comparing him to religious extremists, if all religious extremists ever did was make rational arguments, wrote books, and entered into friendly debate they might have a point, but it's a ludicrous comparison. How many people have Dawkins, Harris, or the late Christopher Hitchens ever murdered or even suggested they'd like to murder? The comparison is preposterous nonsense.

Unfortunately the average christian follows the leader because thats what the bible tells them to do .
The difference between atheism and Christianity is that Christianity has organised clubs (churches) in which Christianity is taught. Atheism, not so much
We all got to do better and be better to each other. And that works both ways except, as far as i know, no one speaks for an atheist except that atheist
