The northern lights tonight

Our mother star is active of late. Charged particles around our planet's magnetic field (protective) result in some (be mindful, shut off your phone) increased light and more subtle colors in the sky. This taken from some random place in the middle nowhere PA.

Edit: picture upload f'ed. Thanks Q.

The resolution of my phone's camera is not good lol

I can't discern anything by naked eye.
Lots'o light pollution here.
Taking a photo with my phone, there
appears to be a faint ribbon or 2 on
the northern horizon. Meh.

My eyesight is not great. So when I went outside and looked at the sky, I could only see a faint glow with little color. My iPhone12, though, since it integrates the exposure, revealed more color than I could actually see.

The slightest amount of light pollution...even light from the moon, which was low in the south last night...can greatly affect what even those with good sensitivity can see...and yes, in the mid-latitudes, even with a good display they seem pretty dim...last night, we could just detect a little green and pink...but here's what my Iphone collected, using integrated three-second exposures...
