We will find out Tuesday as that is when Biden reports to Obama on the matter.... NRA said their meeting was all anti-2nd Ammendment speech, but what else would they say on the matter? We shall soon find out....

So the ban is not on the AR-15 itself, it is on the selling of the AR-15?

No...I don't think that's what I was saying. I said...those that have theirs should be grandfathered in. Those after the ban wanting to purchase one will not as it will be against the law to buy and own one after said ban. They will have to adapt and find a legal weapon for hunting.....

The NRA can go crawl under a rock somewhere. No one is suggesting abolishing the 2nd Amendment, just making modifications to making the owning of firearms safer.

I suppose it is easy for me to say so, not being even American... but I fail to see why abolishing the Amendment outright would even be a bad thing. I'm not convinced that it shouldn't have been done with long ago.

To be honest, I sometimes feel the same way. The problem would be the backlash caused by the populace. Paranoia would run rampant, people would claim that "the government is out to get 'em! The world is coming to an end and the sky is falling! etc etc." It is so ingrained in the mindset of the people that it would be next to impossible to do.

Unfortunately, irrationality, paranoia, and self-absorption are as American as the Fourth of July and apple pie.

I personally feel that would be extreme, but I can't really back up my position. It's just a feeling, perhaps my own prejudice as an American who has been around firearms, and never seen one used to harm another person.

Considering it currently is all we have in regards to the right to own a firearm, I disagree.
This is an interesting question I have never thought of. Where else would our right to own firearms be affirmed? I am pretty ignorant in this regard. :sorry1:

I think that if the federal govt. was silent on the right to bear arms then each state could allow you to own guns. They certainly did it with weed....!

Surely the absence of any explicit laws about the right to bear guns does not mean that they are not allowed. All the more so when there is already a deep set gun ownership culture.

You do not understand why it is the only thing we have? The answer to that is fairly easy, our government has the combined emotional maturity of a four year old.
Interesting. I was thinking precisely the same thing about the idiots who presume that the commie pinko government is out to strip the rights away from the militia loving guardians of America.
