Is it because we are regular ordinary men and we know that when we die there is nothing and that we find it difficult to believe in the power of Jesus? This is simply a question, not an accusation.

Personally I know for a fact that when I die there is nothing beyond. …but I have hope that Jesus will return with a new heaven and earth and I will be able to live with him again.

There are many reasons why people do not believe in the mythical power of Jesus.

Simply, lack of evidence is suffice for most to dismiss the mythological version of Jesus.

Well, we are mortal human beings. Jesus is said to have utilized extraordinary powers some 2000 years ago, even to the point of being able to rise from the dead.

Even setting aside the fact that we have no hard information or evidence that any of that actually happened, it does seem clear that such power has never been used or realized on this planet since that time.

When you think about it, it really isn't that hard to believe that maybe the power of Jesus might have existed 2000 years ago - since who can really say either way? But the power of Jesus isn't around anymore. It's gone. Just like the power of the Roman Empire or the power of Caesar. It's gone.

Not only does the absence of evidence lead me to reject the mythological version of Jesus, but also my familiarity with his biblical stories in comparative mythology. I explained my reasoning in one of the other OP's threads about Jesus, which you can find linked below. The truth is that I don't consider his savior story to be any more credible than the other so-called divine saviors that predate his story and Christianity. It is just one savior story among many.

There is no evidence of the biblical Jesus?
And,
I've studied how Rome worked +/- 100 years of the fall of the republic. The Bible stories of Jesus just do not make sense in the context of history.

The power of Jesus is not gone by any means. And Rome's power is certainly not gone, its increased 100 fold. It was spiritual power, not physical.

Personally, I know that when I die. I'll be dead and gone. But "I" will be back at some point.

No Jesus needed or not needed.
