The Problem with Internet Porn

Axe Elf

Prophet
Porn always carries a price. It isn’t always monetary. Sometimes the prices comes in wrecked relationships, destroyed psyches, or even suicide.

Dang, I wanna go to the sites YOU'RE visiting! That must be some deep dark web stuff there...

Who are we kidding; the REAL problem with internet porn is all the pop-ups and malware that is associated with those sites.

Porn is so destructive. If you and your partner are interested in watching some wonderful erotic and nurturing videos I suggest: www.hegre.com
And this isn't porn because, what . . . it has good looking, well scrubbed people, is well lit and photographed, and the sex is in slow motion? Give me a break.

I don't see how ease of access desentises someone to kinky or extreme porn. Does a library desentise someone to bawdy literature (ie the entirety of the Western Canon)? If one is so concerned with how society views porn then what about teaching the youth the difference between porn and real life intimacy? That any supposed depraved acts seen on a porno is done with the consent of all involved and supervised for safety. And that kinks are well kinky. Something to explore if one is so inclined but nothing to really be scared of or indeed ashamed of. Stressing that porn is merely fantasy and nothing more.

The problem I have with porn is it's shaming, degrading and based around usury. The Hegre site is done in a caring and honoring manner where the players are giving to each other, its the difference between sex and making love, porn is about lust. if you cant see that then your only the seeing the sexual act.

What could be more thrilling and erotic than watching 2 people making love.

I think that Internet porn can be harmless and entertaining on occasion, but far more commonly it has the potential to cause problems, and wreak havoc on the minds of viewers. One problem is its accessibility. With the click of a mouse, and with no monetary cost, one can get access to unlimited, on-demand videos of sex acts, depicting almost any fetish imaginable. This is disconcerting to me, because it seems like it would have the potential to rapidly desensitize viewers to the mystique of sex. Additionally, porn completely removes the love aspect of intimacy by removing the most important aspect of sexuality, which is the physical connection with another human being. The last time I visited a pornographic site, the number one thing that I noticed was the sheer number of videos available, and how much time could be consumed (and ultimately wasted) by watching all of these videos, so I left the website, and decided to rarely, if ever, visit such websites again. What is the solution? I am not sure. I'm not advocating for government regulation of pornography, as I think it falls under freedom of expression. Yet, the abundance and easy accessibility of unlimited, free porn on the Internet is concerning to me. At the very least, awareness should be raised about its negative potential.

I think anything can be done to excess, and I've heard that there are those who get addicted to porn and might need some help in that area. Just like people might need help with alcoholism or drug addiction.

Other than that, parents can use their own judgement and set up controls on their internet as they see fit. I don't think there is any other solution.

You sound like me.
My favorite porn is made by enthusiastic amateur exhibitionists, who just wanna share with their 100,000 closest friends.

"Usury"? Whaaaaaaaaa . . . ?

I don't know if you've ever had sex before, but from my experience and knowing the experience of others it's nothing like the sex depicted on the Hegre site. It's like Doris Day sex. Not to say Hegre sex isn't interesting or can't be arousing, but it's certainly not representative of real sex. It's pretty porn, but porn nonetheless---don't kid yourself.

Maybe the suicide is a byproduct of your hate speech.
Maybe you have a strange idea of what hate speech is. It is not hateful to tell someone they are doing something harmful. Hateful would be telling someone something is innocuous when it truly isn’t.

If anything it lessens human suffering. Where do you get these ideas from? They are not supported by observation. Plus you have quite a few unsupported accusations. You need to be able to support them. It can be shown that rape decreases when porn is legal. Porn is not for single guys, women watch, couples watch it, even married couples use porn to make their sex lives better. How it is it "evil"?
Pornography destroys. There are countless millions whose lives have been wrecked by pornography. Consumers of it are certainly damaged, as well as innocent bystanders such as families and loved ones. In addition there are legions of those that produce the product that are hurt, such as those exploited due to sex trafficking, drug use and violence. No, rape doesn’t decrease with increased pornography legalization. The facts don’t bear that out. There is a well established association between rapists and their consumption of pornography. And no, I didn’t just say pornography causes someone to become a rapist. I said that rapists use pornography more than others, which is verifiable. It is true that men aren’t the only users of pornography, but then I never said that either. The widespread use of pornography doesn’t make it a good thing any more than the widespread use of other vices make them good. I have already explained why pornography is evil. Pornography is inherently hedonistic and debasing.

Maybe reading this will help you understand how pornography desensitizes it’s users,

Really? Then where are the statistics that support this claim. All I have ever seen are a few anecdotes from the religious that rue their past actions.

Unsupported claims are worthless in a debate once evidence is demanded. Find some reliable sources. That means not religious sources that are extremely biased.
