Somebody took my prattle seriously, and now I feel bad.
Don't. They live to seek out & take offense, even openly stating that they go nuclear to teach us a lesson not to be such reprobates. (I'm in far far more hot water than thee.)

There is a squirrel in my drop ceiling. I can hear it running back and forth and rummaging up there. I think there is a hole in the old higher ceiling and it is getting in to the attic through a partially stuck open small window up there and coming down through the hole. I believe it is making a little nest and storing nuts up there. Not the first time I've heard it.

Tree rats can make a real mess up there.
Better plug up that hole, & then remove his nuts.

Psh, I can't do that. Never done that kind of work and I rent. It's landlord territory. Given the amount of things wrong with this place I sincerely doubt it'd be on his list of priorities.

I had the same thing happen once to one of my tenants. So I booted her out, & completely gutted the place to rehab it. Perhaps your landlord will do that for you?

We just keep hoping that we can find another place to live within our budget. When we don't have money for down and last I see places that would work for us, when we do, can't seem to find anything.

The carpets were bad when we moved in (prior had dogs they'd leave in here all day I'm guessing plus unidentifiable stains - who carpets a kitchen and bathroom?), there's holes in the foundation that allow flooding during rainy season and sometimes it gets so cold in the basement the pipes freeze, we get bugs, insulation sucks (seriously bad old windows), oh, and we have needed gravel for our drive for about three years. Yard is overtaking it into mud and slush territory. There doesn't seem much he can do with us in here that isn't going to totally mess with our lives.

People carpet kitchens & baths when the subfloor is in too poor a condition to install tile. Carpeting is quick & cheap.

When we moved in the first thing we did was to yank up the bathroom carpeting and tile it ourselves (it was beyond nasty). We had no issue with it. When our toilet plumbing had to be repaired a few years ago that tiling was ripped up in the process and the guy re-tiled it without issue. though I will say that the landlord we had when we moved in is not the one we have now. We also tore up part of the carpeting in our kitchen in the area that is meant for eat-in table, and tiled that as well. The floor is absolutely fine underneath. I just think the former landlord was really cheap as the indoor/outdoor carpeting is cheaper and easier than tiling.

My subfloor standards are higher than most people's. Why? I've found that if it's the least bit too flexible, the tiles will become loose over the years. I want the job done once & for all.

Be careful of tree rats. The condo we lived at several years ago had them. They got into the walls of all of the condos and chewed up the wiring. It caused at least one fire, that was luckily caught before it did too much damage.

You wouldn't believe the discussion I am having with my husband. He doesn't believe that women should get maternity leave and also should be paid less because they can get pregnant and because they have a period. Sometimes I wish my husband could become a woman just for one year and get pregnant and have a baby and have a couple of periods, too (that might take longer than a year, though). Maybe he'd change his tune.

Who are "they"? Just curious, because if you're talking about me, you might as well say it to me. I prefer directness to talking in riddles.

(That probably sounds much more confrontational than I intend it to be, so keep that in mind when you read it. :D)

I think many men would change their tune if they became a woman for just one day, not even one year. It's quite unfortunate but true that so many men are unable to relate to women.

The proverbial "they".

Oh, I know what a clever & mirthful rascal you are. But I am taking care to have fun without bruising anyone's feelings. I've no ill will towards anyone I've conversed with recently....even if things have become strained.
