They are. And also generally cheap and easy to work on. I doubt I get another XD but I probably will get another Toyota. My short-lived Camry I was impressed with and I'm happy with how well my XD has performed and been to maintain that unless I make a six-figure income I doubt I get anything but Toyota. (with a six figure income I plan on getting a Porsche).

Keep working at it, a Push (oops Porsche) can be yours...

For my first car, I saw a cheap Jag in the newspaper. Obviously a fixer upper for that price (whatever it was), but I was willing to do the work to learn how and get an awesome car out of it. Maybe. I never found out. Despite my ambitions my parents didn't take me to check it out.

Hmmm. Cheap ones are cheap for a reason and end up being expensive. And honestly they are not the easiest car to learn on. What i like about the is that you don't drive them, you wear them, they fit like comfortable clothes.

The car I did learn on was an '02 Mercury Cougar, and the known for being notoriously difficult to work on. Because they are. Every car since has been easy.
Or, as for learning to drive, I learned how to drive when I was a kid. And my sister, being the sadist she is, taught me to drive (a stick shift) at our school parking lot, which has an incline at the entrance/exit part of it. But I can say, though it took a very long time and forever for stop rolling downhill at the stop sign and finally make it out of that parking lot I never struggled with shifting after that.

And one might face having to have not only SAE & metric
tools but also British Standard & British Association.
(If you don't work on the instruments, you can skip the latter.)

Why? Put diesel fuel in and they go, for ever. Our little diesel runabout has done about 1/4 million miles. Should be good for at least 100,000 more, fingers crossed.

Use to be an auto-mechanic and use to work at a VW dealership, there I had to work on a diesel rabbit or 3. Almost went to trade school for diesel mechanics....but then got out of mechanics altogether

Wait, I just thought of something...

If @Wu Wei is all peaceful and retired... then that means someone giving him money will then have to come to the Games forum and remind him he's retired and washed up.
I'll gladly let him know that he's useless, washed up, & a burden on society.
(He'll revel in it.)

And remember, @Revoltingest and I sometimes agree on politics. Now, if that does not inspire fear, nothing will.
Look at how often Revoltingest and I agree. Theoretically we should be bitter and mortal enemies. But strong conviction to our Deep South social views has us agreeing on lots of stuff.
