The Random, Meaningless Announcements Thread 3!

I'm off to Vegas shortly.
Do you have two bags of grass, seventy five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half-full of cocaine and a whole galaxy of multicolored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers, and also a quart of tequila, quart of rum, and a case of beer? If your answer is no, you are not properly prepared for your trip to Vegas. Or at least that's how I've read you're supposed to do it.

I'm bringing the wife. If she lets me spend my allowance I suppose I can afford a free drink.

Well turns out my cat is not having his teeth done today, as we asked the vet to get a blood test before proceeding and turns out he has a little problem with his kidney (though it's caught early). We'll get him some specific food for that and get him back there next week. They will give him some kind of drip to strengthen him up and get his teeth done. Also they have confirmed that he needs one extraction, or well that it's recommended. Hopefully all turns out ok.

Again, it's good to have pet insurance... Vets are so expensive!

Oh gosh, now I think I might now what's caused all of this...

I've been doing research about cat food because of all of this, trying to find what's best for a cat with kidney issues. The vet gave us a pamphlet about it (which was from a cat food brand, basically saying "buy our food") and then read up about raw cat food, since that's what I feed my cat half of the week.

Well I came across two things, one, the raw cat food I'm feeding him has better content than the so called "vet approved" prescription diet. And two, raw food might cause a slight elevation in the thing vets test cats to see if their kidneys are healthy. So maybe they saw the slight elevation and thought he had health issues, when maybe it's just the raw food. (Btw, humans who eat lots of proteins have a higher level as well in their blood without being sick.)

Next time we go I'll ask some questions and bring the raw food's cardboard bit, since it has the nutritional ratios... But really, this whole situation feels quite silly now.

All I hope anyway is that we're getting him the best food we can afford, that he enjoys eating it and that he stays healthy... That he has a good long life.

Wow. Having a cat sounds almost as complicated as having a computer. :p

Lol well, cat nutrition is a huge subject indeed. There's protein amounts, phosphorous, calcium and more importantly taurine... Yep complex. We hardly know much about human diet, imagine cats!

Doesn't help also that lots of vets are sponsored by pet food companies... I'm not dissing them, they know a lot more about how to treat sicknesses but you've got to raise an eyebrow when a pamphlet is supposed to inform you, and instead looks like advertisement. Like I said, they handed over a pamphlet from one of them, basically saying buy our food. It hardly had any information in it. I learned a lot more by Googling this whole thing.

*Sigh*

Bad news. We lost Hobbs last year. He was about the same age.

On to other random meaningless announcements....
