No shirts, pants or undies needed on bike ride, just a mask (apnews.com)

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia bike riders won’t need their shirts, pants, skirts or even underwear — just a mask.

Organizers of the annual Philly Naked Bike Ride say this year’s event will take place Aug. 28 and will require masks, based on the city’s earlier coronavirus restrictions.

The city lifted most of its COVID-19 rules this week, citing an increase in vaccinations and a decrease in cases. But ride organizers said they hadn’t had a chance to chat since the city’s guidelines changed so for the time being, they’re “going to stick with our initial mask guidance.” Lead organizer Wesley Noonan-Sessa said they’ll keep an eye on what the city says in the next month or so.

Ride participants, sometimes in the thousands, usually gather in a park to strip off their clothes and paint each other’s bodies before carefully hopping on their bikes. The naked ride is to promote positive body image, advocate for the safety of cyclists and protest dependence on fossil fuels.

Riders pedal a 10-mile (16-kilometer) course while taking in sights including Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s steps, featured in the “Rocky” movies.

So, they'll be riding in the buff - except for masks.

The coronavirus pandemic slammed the brakes on the ride that had been planned for last year. Organizers said then that canceling the 2020 event was “the most responsible thing to do.”

Folkspaper - Comedian Dressed As Superman Hit By Bus While Pretending To Stop It

A comedian dressed up as Superman was hit by a bus while he pretended to stop it.

Luiz Ribeiro de Andrade, who goes by 'Superman', was hit by a bus in the Brazilian municipality of Barra dos Coqueiros when his stunt went wrong on the afternoon of 30 May. The 35-year-old presenter was filming himself as he tried to mimic halting the vehicle.

Thankfully Luiz managed to escape unhurt after the accident. In the video, he was seen walking slowly after being hit. He even joked about the incident, saying that he wasn’t injured because he was ‘made of steel’.

"Now I've seen I really am made of steel. I'll make a complaint about this vehicle's brakes. They're not working."

Luiz also discussed the accident in an interview given to F5 News. He said he failed to estimate the distance, which is why he ended up being hurt. He took all the responsibility, claiming that the accident was his fault.

"I take responsibility for everything. I went to the bus company so that the driver would not be penalised. There was no problem with the brakes.

“He did what he could and I acted wrong. It's a stunt I always do, but this time it almost turned into an accident, and it wasn't serious because the hand of God was there.

"I didn't feel anything with the knock. I was hit through my own fault and a miracle of God took place there. God acted at that time and protected me."

Oshkosh Defense wins potential $942.9M contract for Stryker armaments - UPI.com

une 4 (UPI) -- Oshkosh Defense won a $942.9 million contract to integrate 30mm medium caliber weapons systems onto U.S. Army Stryker vehicles, the company said on Friday.

The upgrade to the Stryker Double V Hull Infantry Carrier Vehicle will provide "precision lethality capability to the Army's Stryker Brigade Combat Team," the company said Friday in a press release.

The contract calls for integration of the weapons system with three combat teams, as well as technical and logistical support.

The first delivery order, valued at about $130 million, includes 91 vehicles.

The Army could obtain up to six Stryker Brigades with the weapons system version, making the potential contract value about $942 million over six years, according to Oshkosh.

The weapon system, devised by Oshkosh Defense, Pratt & Miller Engineering and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, consists of a 30mm gun and a SAMSON turret, each currently in use by numerous NATO countries.

The system is mounted on a 16-ton, eight-wheeled armored vehicle, nearly 23 feet long and capable of carrying nine soldiers, grenade launchers and other armaments.

The vehicle is designed for quick deployment, and is meant to fill a gap between lightly-armored Humvees and sturdier but hard-to-deploy M2 Bradley tanks.

The army's choice came after tests and evaluations conducted at the Aberdeen Test Center, Md. General Dynamics Land Systems, Kollsman Inc., Leonardo DRS, Raytheon and Pratt & Miller Engineering, EOS Defense Systems USA, Inc. and Oshkosh Defense were awarded study contracts in 2020.
