Been a rough 2 weeks..... since the 15th I have had my mother in 4 urgent care units, 1 doctors appointment, 2 ambulance rides, 2 Emergency Room visits and now in a hospital. She had a compression fracture of the spine and a herniated disk in the upper back. Now she is in the hospital on meds and out of her head.... but not in severe pain.....
during the last ER visit that was from 10:00am to 9:00pm, after which she was admitted....I started rreading a lot about buddhism on my phone.... I came to the conclusion I needed to know more... also decided that, at least for me, at this point it is possible to be a Buddhist, Taoist, Christian.
Taoism goes with virtually anything, and Christians have been known to practice Buddhist meditation.....
Well, I have things to do then go to the hospital and be yelled at for being a trader.....

I think sometimes the pressure to 'divide' this from that(religiously speaking) is a little unnatural. I've heard this isn't as much a thing in the East as the West.
In the last year, I've noted I'm more of a mixed bag than a purist in just about everything. When my roommate lived here, we ended up observing each other's festivals, and the blended tradition thing kinda grew on me.
I had a Buddhist-Catholic coworker: a nice guy to work with, too. His concept was that Christ enlightened Buddha, and he made a painting illustrating it. I did not pay much attention at the time.

I see the opposite -- that Buddhism enlightened Christ. Beginning with the era of Rabbi Hillel the Elder, I see influences of Buddhism in the Abrahamic traditions.
First, I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I'm at the age when such things seem too close to home.
But for your religious comments, some years ago I read a book "It's Funny. You Don't Look Buddhist..." about the compatibility of practicing Judaism and Buddhist practices. That seems perfectly natural to me.

I once got in trouble with a similar statement about fish.... at a friends house...with his girlfriend....
I said....... "Time to feed the fish"......."to the cats"...... they had 3 cats too, two of which were sitting and looking at the fish tank when I said it...... his girlfriend got very angry with me....
Any idea how long she'll be there?

Nope, she is in her early 90s, has Spinal Stenosis, I will be going there tomorrow and hopefully find out more
