I need something to do. I was planning on working on my dad's truck today, but it turns out he needs to rent a special tool.
This presents a problem, not with doing the work, but that working on his truck was my plan today for getting out of the house and away from the noise and stress. And the noise and stress has just went through the roof.
Put in some ear buds, crank some tunes and go for a walk. That should distract you for a bit.

I know a guy who can't beat me easily on Star Wars Trivial Pursuit, but his times and scores on Star Wars Battlefront can't touch mine.

I picked up my second editing project. Still no pay for it though. This is a guy who is in jail, writing a couple of letters to the editor about how he's being bullied and his rights are being violated.
At least I have something else to add to my portfolio, and having something more political in nature excites me more than a work procedures manual.

Well, the MMPA is a valid test, but you have to have some certified (a psychologist) to interpret it. From my research, any-and-all pre-employment personality tests are bogus, and there are actually some law suits against companies who use them because they questions asked, when asked to certain people, violate HIPAA laws as they are asking a potential employee to disclose medical information. Kroger got in trouble because someone applying is hard of hearing (a red flag on their test), and Aarons (a "rent-to-own" place) was sued over something (I don't remember the issue), and they do even ask if you are into any "unusual" sex acts. Some places even ask if you enjoy irony and sarcasm as a form of comedy. One company I looked at for my research even asked how far away you live from your family, and how emotionally close to them you are.
The last one I had to take, the statement was "there are some groups of people I just don't understand." I started to answer "agree," because there are some groups I just don't understand (such as those who would kill for religion - I can't even begin to fathom what must compel someone to do that; I don't understand racists either, or people who see human beings as expendable and exploitable resources), and my case worker told me to answer "disagree" because I was way over thinking the question. It's not my fault they can't word a sentence so it isn't super vague and has a canyon-sized opening for interpretation.
Back in the dark ages when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, I was studying psychology including testing with the MMPA one of those tests. I agree there's some utility in it, but I would never use it to decide whom to hire. When I was interviewing people, I went much more by feel and fit - did I feel comfortable with the person and did I think he or she would fit in. Then of course there was technical competence. I made mistakes, of course, but I also wound up hiring some great people who were a bit odd but fit in and did a great job.

I wonder how much of a premium go players looking for a goban will value hon kaya over shin kaya & agathis?
Believe it or not, I find this a much more interesting question than which Democrat is winning.

I was watching the Batman TV show at my friend's house the other day. The super-cheesiness and corniness actually make a lot of sense, even makes it less bad, when you see Batman as Mayor Adam West.

Adam West guest starred on The Big Bang Theory.
I hate their laugh track, but his role was very well written.
Bob Newhart takes the cake as best guest star though.

Do you suppose anyone ever took a moment to tell Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent that you're supposed to wear your underwear inside your pants, not outside?

I don't know how meaningless this is to my family, but I suppose it is to others...we will be finding out in just a few short hours if we have an income anymore. Hubby's work shut down production yesterday and called all the employees and told them to come in for "meetings" today. Given that they have already lost at least one production line and "ran out" of a key production requirement the other day, and taking into account they were laid off for two months at the end of the year and have only been up and running for about 6 weeks now...we're looking at a huge possibility of the plant being shut down and a mass firing. Either that, or the other possibility, though perhaps smaller, is that there will still be mass firings but only a handful of employees will be kept to run what production lines they have left. So...yeah, now we play the waiting game. His mtg is at 1pm. May know by the time the kids are out of school.

I'll trade you....
This week, I'll find out if a real estate development I've invested most of our life savings in is worth zero or something.

Considering we have no life savings and we live paycheck to paycheck and if we lose income there's a good possibility of losing home and much else, sure, I'll trade you. This was supposed to be the year that he was going to get a promotion and raise. He was in the works for it before the layoff. Plus child support is finally done so that frees up several hundred dollars a month too. We went from "hey, we'll finally be able to pay things off and save some back" to "wonder if we will be able to make rent and groceries next month?" I hate the waiting game.

I didn't tell you that part of the trade is that you'd also be stuck with my age related earning potential.
I'm a professional Social Security recipient.....I don't do real work anymore.
What a pair we are, eh?

:p I swear, the more I talk to you the more remind me of my dad. We disagree politically but in other regards, especially joking, we get along. At least I think we do. Have no idea what's in your kilt wearing mind.
