Uh, sure. Lived through the Great Depression, had four kids on one and then two teachers' salaries. Spent as little as they could to keep us alive until we were out of the house. Their place in south Texas was broken into a couple of years ago, along with several others in the snowbird community where they stay. The theives ended up taking very little because there wasn't anything current and electronic there, or of other value--where everyone else lost their flat-screen tvs and other electronics, my parent's was untouched because it was a 30-year-old color TV that weighed about three-quarters of a ton, and their portable radio/CD player was about 20 years old...So your parents are Chinese, eh.
I'm hungry. It's about 2pm. I ate breakfast at 8. I've had no lunch yet. I think that explains it.

Okay, never fails. I got my fuses. They are the right size and rating. I put one in, reassemble my dryer, and before I put the back back on I decide to test it first. I pick up the cord, the cord dummy me never inspected, and see charring and melting around one prong of the plug. Surge definitely came from my outlet. So, now going to replace plug and outlet with one that has its own breaker in it. Then will test dryer. Because it is highly possible, with such a surge, more things happened than just a fuse blown. *sigh*
Plug has been replaced completely. We figure it was the door switch when I was drying a load and opened the door to check if the clothes were dry yet. When I closed the door the dryer never came back on. Wouldn't take much with our wiring. We can't run the microwave and the oven or even coffeemaker at the same time without tripping the surge protector. Forget about running the vacuum cleaner while the dryer or A/C is running. Older than dirt wiring that isn't grounded properly. It's no wonder we have electrical issues.Speaking as a subject matter expert, the real question is what caused the spike? I suggest checking to make sure the plug on the dryer isn't loose first. Loose connections cause heat, which causes resistance, which can trip breakers and blow fuses.

I've seen some weird number things, eg, a frubal count increasing by several hundred overnite (not mine). Is it normal to have your post count go from, say, around 2,500 a few days ago to 2,900 a couple of days later? I know I've posted some, but I didn't think I've done 400 over the past week!
Huh. Maybe I'm just misremembering where I was. Not impossible, given the current condition of my memory and atten....I've seen some weird number things, eg, a frubal count increasing by several hundred overnite (not mine).
I'm not surprised at your posting count going up given how many losing posts you've made in the last post is a winner thread. Is it normal to have your post count go from, say, around 2,500 a few days ago to 2,900 a couple of days later?
