Come to think of it...if it can run as fast as an average horse, the bear is gonna be left in the dust in a horse race because those aren't average horses...

Really.... think about it... bears..... in a horse stable..... PRIOR to the race..... I'm betting the horses don't even show up

That has nothing to do with how fast the horses run; in the stable they're not able to run, so being able to run as fast as the average horse is irrelevant. Once they are on the track, the speed of the bear is only of concern to the slowest horse...how long can a bear run at that speed, anyway?

Actually bears have the stamina of your average marathon runner, which is why is is not recommended to try and out run one... no matter how fast you are.....

Yes, and horses can trot along for long periods, too. I would expect the "marathon" speed to be somewhat slower than the sprint of a horse race, for any species---

and frankly, humans are so pathetic physically that it's best if they just stay out of nature, unless well-trained and well armed...
