The Real Reason Catholic Priests Can't Have Sex

The real reason is that they choose to be celibate.

Actually, the article is flawed when it states that all Catholic priests can't have sex.

Eastern rite priests are in communion with Rome/Pope and they can marry.

Celibacy is not a doctrine. It's a discipline. The Eastern rite discipline allows married priests. The Western/Latin rite does not.

So if you don't want to be celibate, you become an Eastern/Byzantine rite priest not a Latin/Western rite priest.

They get to choose.

Btw, before they ordain women, I would bet that the existing Latin/Roman rite churches would offer the Eastern rite Divine Liturgy via a married Eastern rite Catholic priest in place of the Mass.

Same result. Different method.
