The real reason Trumps interview with the NABJ had to be delayed nearly 40 minutes.

If you have not actually seen the video, I know you are aware of it.

With all the controversies over what Trump said in this interview one thing may have almost slipped by.

But at 3:50 in the video Trump said "And then you were half an hour late .... They couldn't get their equipment working or something"

Yeah, or something. You will not be surprised to learn that Trump was being less than honest. The delay had nothing to do with the equipment.

Trump did not want to be fact-checked live and was refusing to go on stage, NABJ president Ken Lemon told Axios.

"The Q&A with the GOP presidential nominee was delayed more than an hour before he eventually joined a panel of Black journalists, including ABC News correspondent Rachel Scott, Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner and Semafor reporter Kadia Goba.

  • At the time, President Trump blamed the delay on audio problems.
  • Lemon told Axios, "There were audio problems, but they were resolved very quickly."
  • "The bigger problem was his threat not to take the stage when he had agreed to go on. He did not want to be fact-checked, but we could not let him on the stage without fact-checking," Lemon said.
Behind the scenes: The stalemate was so prolonged that NABJ leaders were prepared to explain to the audience of nearly 2,000 people why Trump would not appear.

  • "I was prepared to go on stage to craft a statement, saying he decided not to go on stage because of fact-checking... we couldn't compromise on that.
  • As Lemon was preparing that statement, Trump walked onto the stage."

Of course Trump doesn't want to be fact checked. Trump lies every time he opens his mouth. He lied about the fact checking.

But these are journalists. That means they are going to fact check you. That is their whole job. Only one out of the three of them was a Fox Propagandist, the other two were journalists. (and I bet I know what side Faulkner was on during the fact check debate)

And this is also probably at least partially the reason Trump was in such a bad mood going out there and so ready to throw a temper tantrum over the first question.

What another Trump lie, say it isn't so.

No the problem was with the audio. The attendees literally saw the technicians working on the audio system. Trump not wanting to be "fact checked" was a separate matter and not the issue. This isn't "another Trump lie". It is a lie by the NABJ President trying to deflect the heat he is taking for the debacle due to the organizations logistical incompetence.

(Don't worry. I'm sure @Shaul is frantically culling Fox and X while waiting for full details on The Onion.)

Yes, I know, it's taking longer than it should, but I suspect that he's focused on trying to show us when Harris was appointed Border Czar, and that may take a good amount of time. I'm sure he'll show up sooner or later.

Ken Lemon is lying, yes. Oh, you think media representatives never lie.
You think Trump never lies?

Yes, between the two of them, I am sure Trump is the one who is lying. And I don't even know anything about Ken Lemon. (except that he is not related to Don Lemon, I asked)

Who fact checks the fact checkers?

Didn't need a link it was in the op. Nice try.
Wrong. The OP link only provides a CLAIM by the NABJ President that there was such an issue. It provides no proof that it even happened. So, yeah, back at you "nice try".
