According to Islam with persecution and torture we get a greater reward. That is what Paul said about the ressurection.

In Hinduism, creation is the play (lilā) of Brahman, a natural outpouring that has been compared to a happy person singing.

Plato argued that a good god would wish to share his creation with those who could enjoy it. Indeed, if there were a single creator with sufficient knowledge and power, it might be said to be the only motive for creation, since such a being wouldn't need to see the end product to know what it would be like, or to attempt the task to see if the result will come up to expectations.

Sorry. Didn't see a ? at the end of the thread title. Didn't know it was a question. With that in mind I would say that God created the heavens and the earth because it pleased Him to do so.

No one created the heavens and the earth. You posted from the Quran, are you agreeing with what they say in their scripture?

Are you asking for our opinions on the scripture or your title?

If you speaking against it, maybe religious debates is better than comparative religions

The verse you quote has "just ends" at the end of the first sentence and "none of them be wronged" at the end of the second sentence (in English), so there is nothing about "torture" or "persecution" in that verse.

Also why is the word "resurrection" misspelled?

In my Faith there is a prayer often recited that goes like this:

"Thou hast created me to know Thee and to worship Thee"

So God's love for us is a primary reason for our creation.

The translation should be as follow, Allah created the heaven and the earth by a rule, and every soul will
be rewarded according to its deeds and no one will be wronged.

I can't see persecution and torture in this verse.

Another verse? You may find this translation preferable and easy to understand...

Believers, fear God and stand with the truthful. This is because whenever they suffer from thirst or weariness or hunger for God's cause, and whenever they take any step which provokes those who deny the truth, or inflicts any loss upon the enemy, it shall be counted as a good deed in the sight of God, God will not deny the righteous their reward, (120) and whenever they spend anything [for the sake of God], be it little or much, and whenever they traverse the land [in God's cause] -- it is recorded to their credit, and God will grant them the best reward for all that they have been doing. No idea how you are reaching that conclusion from that ayah. It seems to be speaking of justice.

Personally, it seems that God creates for His pleasure as well as for ours.
