The reasons why Islamic women wear the Veil

In order for one to find out if it is required in Islam or not one should read all the verses about hijad, hadith, and explanations of the Quraan. I can safely tell all of you that waering hijab is a requirement in Islam. Perhaps it looks vague because it is an English translation.

The hijab doesn't protect women, behavior and common street sense does. Putting a scarf on to protect women is like bringing a knife to a gun fight.

It's also insulting to menfolk to think that if a women isn't wearing polyester or cotton on her head, he can't be trusted around her.

I'm all for choices, but most even women who "choose" to wear it because they are told they have to.

Ok NOW I'm going back the the beach.

:beach:

The veil and covering the head is part of the hijab.

I see it often. Men/boys will do stupid things when confronted with a beautiful women. They will not treat people fairly. Many men seem to loose the capacity to think sensibly around women.

Seems very difficult for men to act otherwise. Unfortunately there's a lot of men that need to be protected from the beauty of a women. Not the woman's fault however some women take advantage of this.

Women learn to flirt because they get a positive, appealing response from men especially when they are young.

Not saying I agree, but I can understand how the thinking might come about.

A reasonable response thank you.

Besides that men are also told to lower their gaze and they have a dress code also.

Then obviously the fault lies with the men, If this is your belief, And they're the ones that need to do something about it.

Making women cover themselves because you can't control yourself is like hating chocolate and expecting everyone else to never eat it because you hate it.
It's ridiculous.

Of course, I don't believe this is why Muslim men make women cover themselves, But I'll indulge those who do.

This is not the only reason.

The other reason is that it will be more pure for her heart.

What does that even mean? It will be more pure for her heart?
And why does it only apply to women?
Why don't men cover themselves so they can achieve this 'pure heart' ?

It means that when women start to show her body she may start seducing men intentionally.
Men are also required not to show parts of their body and have a dress code.

I live in Australia, Most women here don't completely cover themselves and yet we don't all go around seducing men.

Men don't have to completely cover themselves, Though, Women do.
And if completely covering yourself is supposed to stop you from seducing people, Why don't men completely cover themselves like women?

I think wearing the veil makes a man, or anyone look even harder of what is under the veil, if they didn't wear the veil no one would look twice at them.

Think about how men can be attrackted and started having his imagination drift away. Hijab covers parts of the women that does that.

Now the question is what parts of men make a women's mind drift away? They are required to cover that too

Are Islamic men not pious men? Can they not think of Allah, Instead of fantasizing about women? Can't they control themselves because Allah commands them too?
Are they not strong enough in their faith to consider women as people and not sexual objects?

If Christians, Atheists, Jews, Hindu's, Buddhists can look upon women without lust, Why can't Muslims?

As we can see, the head covering thing probably started as a common sense protection against the desert sun. But now, it is being defended out of fears of female sexuality by Muslim males.

If you're foolish enough to believe that, then you must reconcile how only muslim women are required to wear the veil and not muslim men. If the heritage of the veil were true, all muslims would wear the veil by choice, rather than one sex by dictate.

Men traditionally cover their heads in that area, too.

For example, Bedouins:

Some are not strong enough and some are just sick and dirty minded.

Men have desires as women do. Allah orders both men and women to lower their gaze and to help each other in doing so
