How can one follow a book if it was not God inspired or not all was true?
Since I am an agnostic, I do not follow any religious book.
It is very unlikely that God would wait tens of thousands of years to tell his followers that women should cover most of their bodies, so Muhammad must have been stating his own personal opinions.
When Muhammad was born, humans had already existed for tens of thousands of years. Where did people before Muhammad, and before the Old Testament prophets learn about how they should live their lives? What about people who lived in China in 3,000 B.C.? They had never heard of Muhammad since he had not been born yet, and they had never heard of the Old Testament prophets since they had not been born yet.
You did not discuss, or refute the Muslim article at
http://www.quran-islam.org/articles/women_dress_code_(P1150).html that says that the Quran does not say that women should cover their heads. The author of the article is a Muslim, and he speaks Arabic. If you wish, you can contact that website at
[email protected]. I would like to see a debate between you and a representative of that website at this forum. Perhaps you could set that up.
Elsewhere at that website, at
http://www.quran-islam.org/articles/part_1/history_hadith_1_(P1148).html, there is an interesting article about hadith. If I understood the article correctly, the author of the article said that Muhammad forbid the writing of the hadith after his death.
