I get alot of emails/pm's/questions in posts asking me about RF and myself so here is some detail for those who are curious.
Why did you make RF?
Well I have always been an opinionated person and of course religion was a hot topic for me to talk about with others. I would try to talk about it in my classes at college but always felt I was being outcasted because my questions were very hard and unappealing to most. I tried looking for a sanctuary online but to my dismay found nothing but the typical "you can only join if" clauses on every forum.
So finally I decided the hell with it I am going to make my own forum to ask my own questions and hopefully people will come and ask their questions and have a place where everyone can learn from everyone. Sort of a melting pot if you will. And on March 17, 2004 RF was born and we have been doing great ever since.
Was RF your first forum, and do you have any others?
This is a fun question. My first ever forum started out because I have a client (which I will get to later) that is a school system and I thought they might like an area for the teachers/administrators to chat with each other. So I made that with phpbb software and it was located here: www.group-net.org/forum/ . But I got bored with that and had a bunch of business related questions so I said hmm I will expand it and make it a business forum also.. So I did that and it went along ok but kept finding out that mostly people were joining just to spam and try to get customers. So I basically gave up on it and don't do anything with it anymore, and yet people still register there.. hehe
Next I made RF. Shortly after that I made a wine forum, which was short lived, and there is no need to talk about it because I'm still mad!!. And recently I started www.lsuforums.com for my LSU Tigers, which is a university here in Baton Rouge, LA.
Where do you work?
Well when I was around 17 years old I convinced a school system of around 12,000 employees that enrolling for the benefit package (I.E. life/health/dental/ etc etc) with paper was just time consuming and expensive and it could be done online. So I developed a really simple way to do it online using excel and microsoft access db to do this. Needless to say it worked but it was almost a failure. So the next year I outsourced most of the work to another company that specialized in web DB stuff and now I just maintain the site and make sure everyone is in place.
I also work for Global Insurance Consultants Inc. which is my fathers company. We do mainly life/health consulting. Such as deferred compensation plans, employee bonus plans, bank owned life insurance, etc etc type of consulting. Which is really my passion and hopefully when I am out of school next year I can devote all my energy too!!
And of course running these forums and a few other sites.
