Well, we are all entitled to our views, and you certainly have some pretty firm ones on this subject. Perhaps you can let me know when you plan to have your revolution ( I might want to avoid the time if I decide to visit the states).............

I think the main problem with your argument is that you ignore the fact that religion helps people who need it. For them, a revolution would be devistating, and quite the opposite of what you seem to want to achieve.

Do you have some studies or data to back up these assertions? I can't really see any qualitative difference in the amount of wars and conflicts between religious and non-religious groups or nations. I also can't see any way to measure true happiness whether with or without religion. How does one go about doing so?

my personal religion does not in any way involve getting other people to believe like i do - am i still apart of an evil religious institution? will you still try to kill my beliefs?

As much as I like to see less reliance on religion, I cannot support your silly premise of a revolution, simply because of the points raised above. Intolerance is not preciesly a wise gameplan. Plus where on earth do you draw the line?

I don't need religion... but many many others still do, and reep rewards from their faiths. In some ways, religion is a crutch, however that crutch has helped far more people than it has hurt.

Though I am not religious in any way, shape or form, religion has provided me a yardstick by which I can chart my own inner progress. Granted, my journey went "off scale" fairly early on, but regardless, I can only tip my hat to the great thinkers of the past. They were simply trying to describe their reality as best they could. How can anyone fault them really. I certainly cannot.

I'd rethink the revolution, or as Michel says... let us know when it is going to happen, so we can all stay home behind locked doors.

Well, I don't agree. People would still find something to make themselves unhappy about, a reason to make war and do evil things.

I do agree. And so do many other religious people of faith. My religion is called Unitarian Universalism. We want a revolution too... but it's one based in love, not mean-spiritedness and misunderstanding about others.

My pentecostal belief would tell me that wars that do come about because of religion are fueled by the devil. God doesn't want any religious conflicts, especially between his own children. But satan fuels them by spreading lies, and even those who claim to follow God can be lead astray and do terrible things, which saddens me greatly. I would also say that a revolution to end religion would be what satan has always been trying to accomplish, so I wouldn't bother trying, because you won't prevail against God. He will have his way in the end.
