I understand that there is a need to know, if possible if we are alone in the Universe. But why I ask myself, are ET's supposed to be friendly. Beaming out signals into space is a little risky. If Aliens ever turned up, they might be just as inclined to destroy us as embrace us.
Personally, I think it's pretty far fetched anyway, if there is any life out there, the distances involved make contact a rather ludicrous proposition. It would take nine light years to go :jam: back and forth to the nearest star. And travelling at the speed of light is in itself, pretty far fetched, as the amount of energy required to propel a ship that fast is unacheiveable. You can't break the laws of physics.
