The Search for ET's

I understand that there is a need to know, if possible if we are alone in the Universe. But why I ask myself, are ET's supposed to be friendly. Beaming out signals into space is a little risky. If Aliens ever turned up, they might be just as inclined to destroy us as embrace us.

Personally, I think it's pretty far fetched anyway, if there is any life out there, the distances involved make contact a rather ludicrous proposition. It would take nine light years to go :jam: back and forth to the nearest star. And travelling at the speed of light is in itself, pretty far fetched, as the amount of energy required to propel a ship that fast is unacheiveable. You can't break the laws of physics.

The odds are in favor of intelligent life existing elsewhere, as to their feelings toward us, i suppose it is a 50/50 chance that they will kill us, or be nice.

As to the traveling, we dont know how to travel at lightspeed, but that doesnt mean its impossible, I wouldnt be surprised if there is some "loophole" in the laws of physics that allows near lightspeed travel, give it time, the human mind can do great things.

I've said this before in a similar thread that I do believe there is life out there. How could there not be? This space is HUGE........why not? Just because they haven't made contact with us doesn't mean they don't exist.
And as I said before, maybe they don't want to make contact.....look at this place!
(that's still funny!) :biglaugh:

Yea , why would they want to make contact with a race that would rather kill each other then find cures for common diseases ? I mean , they have the tech to travel those distances , and most of us can't even name the countries of Europe ...

Personally , I have never been able to figure that out . What are we ? Some type of tourist attraction ? A wildlife park perhaps ?

( Ok Commander Polar Bear , I have stopped the rumors of a conspiracy . You can beam me up now . } ;)

I am a little wary of getting alein contact because I really don't think they would travel the huges disances needed to get here just to "hang out"

Personally, I think the aliens are actually already amongst us - their probes rather craftily disguised, and inserted whilst people believe they are undergoing colonic irrigation...........:D

Hmmm, these Aliens seem to have an unhealthy interest in human orifices ?
