Jesus spoke many times about his return. He linked it with Gods judgment.
Paul explained that Christ returned to heaven after his resurrection, from then on 'awaiting' for God to send him back
Heb 10: 12 But this [man] offered one sacrifice for sins perpetually and sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from then on awaiting until his enemies should be placed as a stool for his feet.
At 1Thess 4:16 we are told that Christ will return as a powerful spirit of heaven.
"because the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice and with God’s trumpet"
One of the purposes is to determine the wicked people from the righteous people.
Matthew 31 “When the Son of man arrives in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit down on his glorious throne. 32 And all the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will put the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left"
Jesus warned his followers that they needed to keep themselves prepared for the time when he would return because his return would mark the time of judgement:
Luke 21:36 Keep awake, then, all the time making supplication that YOU may succeed in escaping all these things that are destined to occur, and in standing before the Son of man.”
And the things that are 'destined to occur' were spoken of by the Hebrew prophets.
Daniel 7:13-14 “I kept on beholding in the visions of the night, and, see there! with the clouds of the heavens someone like a son of man happened to be coming; and to the Ancient of Days he gained access, and they brought him up close even before that One. 14 And to him there were given rulership and dignity and kingdom, that the peoples, national groups and languages should all serve even him. His rulership is an indefinitely lasting rulership that will not pass away, and his kingdom one that will not be brought to ruin
So the 2nd coming of Jesus is linked with Gods judgment on the nations. Jesus mission is to serve as the King of Gods heavenly Kingdom and bring all the nations into harmony with God. He will guide mankind back to perfection, he will remove all the wicked ones, he will teach mankind Gods laws and establish peace among the nations and destroy Gods enemy Satan the Devil. The earth will become united under Christs kingdom rule.

The antichrist is anyone who denies that Jesus is the Messiah sent by God.
1John2 :22 Who is the liar if it is not the one that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one that denies the Father and the Son. 23 Everyone that denies the Son does not have the Father either. He that confesses the Son has the Father also.
of course all enemies of God will be defeated in Gods battle of Armageddon. Armageddon will be fought with Christ Jesus taking the lead:
Matthew 26:64 Jesus said to him: You yourself said [it]. Yet I say to YOU men, From henceforth YOU will see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of power and coming on the clouds of heaven.
Revelation 1:7 Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, and those who pierced him; and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief because of him. Yes, Amen.

Is it a real battle, or just a figure of speech?
OK folks, there is some confusion between the second coming and the glorious appearing.
The next time we will see Jesus, he will be in the clouds to spare believers from terrible plagues that are about to happen.
Later on, the second coming will be when he returns to earth to fight the battle of Armageddon.
Thats how I understand it anyway.

Yes, there is a second coming of Jesus Christ. I think it is getting quite close considering the apostasy in the church today and the precarious situation surrounding Israel.

I believe the biblical interpretation would be that the antichrist is one man who becomes a powerful world leader empowered by Satan.

it is not one man, not a group of men.... Johns inspired statements show the term to be broad in its application, embracing all those who deny that Jesus is the Christ, and who deny that Jesus is the Son of God who came in the flesh.
Back in the first century, the antichrists were christians who had turned away from the true faith and taught a false christianity which did not originate with Christ.
1 John 2:18 18 Young children, it is the last hour, and, just as YOU have heard that antichrist is coming, even now there have come to be many antichrists;...9 They went out from us, but they were not of our sort; for if they had been of our sort, they would have remained with us. But [they went out] that it might be shown up that not all are of our sort. 20 And YOU have an anointing from the holy one; all of YOU have knowledge. 21 I write YOU, not because YOU do not know the truth, but because YOU know it, and because no lie originates with the truth
22 Who is the liar if it is not the one that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one that denies the Father and the Son.
Acts 20:30 and from among YOU yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves.
Kingdoms, nations, and organizations are similarly shown to be part of the antichrist in the symbolic description at Revelation 17:8-15; 19:19-21.

It has to be a real battle. But I dont think we really know what to expect. If we consider how Gods judgement on his enemies occured in ancient times, it might give us a bit of a clue as to what we can expect. The walls of Jericho, the egyption army at the red sea, the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, the angel who slaughtered 80,000 amalakites in one night....there are numerous ways God can deal with his enemies. He may use natural forces, he may use his angelic forces...
One thing we do know, what ever means he will use at that time, his enemies will know what is going on:
Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 And then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in lamentation, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Not that its from Christianity, but since its a belief we share, even in Islam Jesus Christ will return. And its real not figurative or anything.
His descendance will be in the eastern part of Damascus, near the white minaret (tower). He is a man of medium height, wide chest, of ruddy and fair complexion; he will be dressed in two yellow garments; the hair of his head (straight hair) will appear as though water was going to trickle down from it, whereas it will not be wet.
At this time, the antichrist will have appeared, and Gog and Magog soon (seven years if I recall correctly) after.
So yeah I think most Christians have a similar belief, and take biblical verses about his return literally as well.
