The Simpsons predict the future?

Do you think it's a coincidence that the series "Simpsons" has predicted the future a few times? And if it's not a coincidence, then how do you explain it?

The inference here is that if the bible "got it right" concerning prophecies it was by sheer coincidence.
There's no sensitivity or nuance to the argument.

General predictions in the bible concern
1 - the Messiah
2 - the fate of the Jews.

Jacob in Egypt, late Bronze Age, spoke of the line of Judah being one of kings, in a new nation
of the Jews. This nation and its laws would last until the Messiah came.
Over millennium the Messiah is fleshed out - both as conqueror and as the lowly Savor. Zechariah
demonstrates they are the same person - rejected of his nation and even his own family, suffered
and died for the sins of the people - a metaphor of the perfect male lamb slain for sin.
And the Jews would have their nation but would lose it twice. The second the Jews would be called
out of all the nations they have suffered under, and brought back to their nation - and take it back with
the sword. We are living in this time, and it should be a marvel in our eyes as we watch the rising
tide of antisemitism all over the world driving the Jews out of their host nations.

Reminds me that just before 9/11 there was a promotion for Miller beer where cans offered the chance to win a trip to NY. These features a drawing of a plane heading towards the twin towers.

Couldn't find this. Who was the guy on TV who said that next year there would be an event in NY, some terrible, involving planes?

Picture phone -- Lisa's prediction was 100 years later than the prediction in Flash Gordon. Flash Gordon was a black and white TV show that envisioned visual communications, and it did it way back near to the invention of television. Additionally, in 1995 video conferencing was already available just not as popular. Lisa's term 'Picture phone' is a term we still don't use and probably never will. 15-1

Smartwatch 15-2. There is a 1995 'Wearable Device' patent. US Patent for Wearable device Patent (Patent # D 805,929 issued December 26, 2017) - Justia Patents Search however the Dick Tracy story predated Lisa's idea.

Go-Pro -- no. The technical term is 'Charged coupled device', and this tech was available before 1995 and before GoPro. Another term for it was 'CCD Camera', long, long before GoPro. CCD were used early on by professional photographers, astronomers and legal professionals.

Voting Machine -- touch screen problems were already well known. Even now they are still with us. Ask anyone who has ever used a Redbox machine. The place you point with a finger is always about 2-4 cm below where the machine detects. This problem with touch screens was known for years before that episode of The Simpsons.

President Trump predicted in 2015? No, actually The Simpsons meant this as a joke. No one at that time considered that Donald Trump would run for the presidency of the United States. It was a hilarious idea, hence it appeared on The Simpsons which was and is a comedy show. Still, we give it a +1 for an accidental coincidence. 1 out of 15 isn't terrible for predicting the future.

Prediction 16 is that the country is broke after Donald Trump's presidency, but that is not true. Therefore I subtract the 1. Lisa's predictions are now at 1/16 instead of 1/15.

The Simpsons is right about surveillance by government spooks. That brings it up to 2/16, still nowhere near to 15/15.

Prediction of a Nobel Prize winner brings us to 3/16.

'FIFA is corrupt' the video admits is obvious, so its still 3/16.

Predicted that Germany would beat Brazil in international round ball football in a particular year. Ok. 4/16. That's pretty good! Still, they already knew that Germany and Brazil were pretty darn good. It wasn't hard to know they'd be facing off.

No, Homer was not early on the Higgs Boson. That doesn't count as a prediction, since most Physicists were hoping that Higgs would be correct. We're still at 4/16.

Curious George and the Ebola Virus is a joke, not a prediction. Out of the plethora of Simpsons shows jokes...no this is not a prediction but a coincidence. Note that it doesn't predict the Zika virus.

'Europe puts Greece on Ebay' does not predict the Grecian economic collapse. 4/16. Its a joke, and its nonspecific not warning anyone about the financial crisis in Greece.

Tiger attack takes 10 years to come to fruition and is nonspecific about the year. Previous tiger problems have occurred. Hence its just common sense and not a real prediction. After 9 years its accuracy was down to a very low level. The Simpsons are still about 4/16.

The 'Lady Gaga' prediction smacks of previous jokes about Madonna. No points awarded.

Predicts that fox is owned by Disney. Too complex to understand, so I yield .5. 4.5/16 = 9/32
911 the video admits 'Complete coincidence'. Its still at 9/32 with only about...um 3 years guessing ahead. Not very awesome.
