The Subconcious Mind

I started this thread to the avoid digression in a previous debate

Here are the previous statement leading to the opening of this new thread:

Like I said, God can be experienced and humans have the spiritual capabilities to experience Him but our five senses are very limited in determining the existence of anything, let alone God. We only perceive what our five senses ‘show’ us. What is above or below the perception of these five senses is what we know very little of but it does exist. As far as the question of thought is concerned, the accuracy of revelation (and here I mean the Quran) proves that it couldn’t simply have been a human being’s thoughts or his heightened imagination or his subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is very powerful but not enough to produce the prophecies and accurate and precise and consistent verses that are found in the revealed verses of the Holy Quran.

Read up on neurology, neuroscience, perception and psychology and maybe you'll have a clear understanding of what the "subconscious" mind is.
Ahmadi said:
Maybe you could suggest to me some articles and help me expand my knowledge on the subconscious mind. Despite that, there is not enough evidence that the subconscious mind can produce anything even similar to the revelations of the Quran. The Quran gave us prophecies that were fulfilled over the past 1000 years; are being fulfilled today; and will continue to be fulfilled till the end of time. The subconscious mind is simply unable to produce the likeness of that…

Scientific American Digital would be a good place to start. Their magazine called "Scientific American Mind" is dedicated towards explaining the human mind and how it works, amongst other things. It is an excellent source of information. You can buy their issues online and download them as PDF files.

There are numerous books that cover neurology, psychology, physiology, etc, that you can find at www.amazon.com.

The "subconscious mind" is presumably biological. Dreams for instance, is a natural process that occurs in the brain, which is theoretically significant for reprocessing memories, something that was and is still considered a spiritual process, where the astral body leaves and travels to different worlds. Even feelings are considered spiritual, when in fact they are biochemical processes triggered by stimuli.
Ahmadi said:
The very existence of such a natural process in the brain tells me that God created such a system in man in order to communicate with him. Of course, the system itself produces dreams which are not directly from God but it is sometimes used by God to communicate with man. The difference between ordinary dreams and visions (created by the brain) and the visions and revelations from God is something that can be demonstrated but this might not be the right thread for it.
Cynic said:
Try telling that to nuerologist, neuroscientists, and psychologists.
Ahmadi said:
I can discuss that as well but it is now becoming a subject of a new debate and I am not going to discuss that here.
Cynic said:
There is no credible evidense that supports the existence of a spiritual mind, let alone the function or brain capacity to communicate with an ethereal being.
If you would like to debate this, I will start a new thread and post the link.
Ahmadi said:
ok... sure... although I have got to admit that my knowledge of the subconscious mind is limited. I would rather go for a discussion than a debate....

The evidence, you asked, comes from prophets and saints. The consistency of the speech of God in their revelations is what makes it credible. The consistency, accuracy, prophecies (that are observed and witnessed by many to have occured) in those revelations, their character, and the lack of motive for their own benefit out of the revelations, etc. is all the evidence for a subconscious mind that can communicate with God. The only way I can discuss the existence of such a spiritual capability of man is by analyzing the prophets... that's the only way I can support my points.
Cynic said:
That is fine with me.
my assumption is, is that you believe that the subconcsious mind is apart of some ethereal body? Is this correct?
Ahmadi said:
No. Your assumption is wrong. The subconscious mind is used as an instrument by God to communicate with man.

Ok, to carify some things Ahmadi, please further define the subconscious mind for me. You said "no" to my question about the subconcious mind being a part of some ethereal body.

You believe that, "The subconscious mind is used as an instrument by God to communicate with man."

Also could you please define the "spiritual mind", is this the same thing as the subconcsious mind?

As far as the 'spiritual mind' of man is concerned, it is only a metaphorical term that I used to say that man can use his mind to experience God.

I cannot fully define the subconscious mind but I know that it is that part of the mind which produces/causes the following:

1. Hallucinations
2. Inspiration - meaningful messages and visions
3. Mind communication (perhaps you can tell me more about the latest research on this subject)
4. Telepathy
5. Hypnotism
6. Dreams

The only things that are not from the subconscious mind are revelations and divinely inspired dreams and visions which have their origin from God.
