The Sun Is a Boy

Someone, in another thread, *cough* @The Hammer *cough* used the feminine pronoun to describe the sun.

Back in my days as a Neo-Pagan, it was crystal clear to me that the sun is a boy and the moon is a girl (or more accurately, the sun represents the God, and the moon represents the Goddess.

Please tell @The Hammer the sun is a boy so we can all rest quietly under the Goddess' light as she wanes.

Thank you for your help in this matter.

Sorry, @SalixIncendium ,

Baltic Paganism was more my flavor, with Saule as the sun...

I've always disliked the Male sun, Female moon dichotomy. I've always felt the Sun was feminine and the moon masculine, and wouldn't you know, it was in Germanic polytheism ;).

The Sun was represented by the female Goddess Sunna or Sól, and the Moon represented by the male God, Mani.

I stopped assigning gender to things a while back. I just find it interesting that there are those that invert the associations I'm accustomed to within Neo-Paganism.

I'm not overly attached to the gender assignment of natural items, as I can really see the sun(or moon) as being masculine or feminine. I appreciate the stories surrounding such, as they make natural phenomenon seem more personal(I don't place any importance on the 'true or false' aspect of these stories). Its a way to make me feel more at one with the world. I might say 'he' or 'she' in reference to planetary bodies, but ultimately don't have any attachment to the assignment.

Why not trans? The sun is M-F trans and the moon F-M. Or maybe both are gender fluid?

The Spanish word for sun is "sol" which is a masculine case noun. The German word for sun is "Sonne", which is a feminine case noun.

The language determines whether the sun is masculine or feminine, In English, the sun is gender neutral, If we agree to designate English as the officially recognized language here on RF, then you may be considered as being grammatically incorrect to assign any gender case to our beloved sun.

Shams is a female personification of the sun who was considered to be literally shining and radiant in her beauty.

The sun is Hope and it is a She. Her counterpart is Faith, and it is represented by fire. Fore I am Fire, I alone walk in the midst of the sun.

It is male when things rotate next to it, but it is female when things revolve about it. Maybe.

Whether the Sun is male or female, I don't know, but Sunny is female, at least from what I can gather from the song.
