I was the last Officer's Wives Club president in Aschaffenburg Germany when we shut down. So I got to see a lot of waste, a LOT. For instance, one day we were told to all go down to the gym because they were handing out tennis shoes. There were six people in my family and we all got new shoes that day. We had "crystal bingo" but it was just to GIVE AWAY tons of crystal that the Army had bought But the worst by far was that in spite of closing down all the housing, the housing was STILL UPDATED (it is now all torn down). Craziness.

Which is why I said what I said, which was that basically that was NOTHING compared to renovating the housing to give it away to be torn down. This was hundreds of units at God only knows what cost.
