Its all about Israel now. As I said when the Israel war started, the Ukraine war will take a back seat and be overlooked.
Its kinda sad but it is what it is.

I think it was broadly true of the US wars also. All Russia needs to do is to survive the first waves of negative PR and then coast until something happens that forces it into the western public's gaze again.

At the same time, I can understand why it's not a priority issue for many in North America. Generally the public gives support to Ukraine and support the sanctions against Russia. Even among the most nationalistic Ukranian-Canadians, I don't see much support to get any more involved than we are beyond increasing the amount of aid.

Israel is in the NATO and is facing a very bad moment.

Should Trump win hopefully there will be a unified EU movement to fill in the gap.
However that would be a deathknell for US global hegemony. They don't need us anymore amd they just proved it. Not that I'm against a decreased global military presence, but things will permanently change for America on the global stage.
That would free up things for a Pacific NATO, which Xi fears, and still presents America with opportunities for the world stage, but Trump also thinks Xi is a swell guy.
A Trump win is going to weaken America in this regard.

Would a loss of world hegemony not free up resources for homeland usage? Maybe we could fix our infrastructure, or provide housing, education or healthcare for citizens.

It is a bit more complex than that, because the world hegemony is also in part economic.
