I know, I know... I just posted this in another thread..... but it's a subject that is very near and dear to my heart, and I wanted to give it a thread of its own:

A way to help fight AIDS is to support groups who are working against it... for instance:

I was looking around the site and could not find statistics showing the correlation between alcohol use/abuse and HIV/AIDS in Botswana - is it there somewhere and I missed it? Otherwise, that's a great site, and I applaud his work.

I'm not sure it's there..... I do believe his experience leads him to believe that alcohol abuse is a contributing factor in the AIDS crisis, and he's using his AA experience to help out the people of Botswana.....

... before my Dad got there, there was not a single AA group in the entire country!

The latest UNAIDS report on the HIV/AIDS pandemic highlights the growing rates of infection among women, who now account for nearly 50% of all individuals living with HIV/AIDS worldwide. In Africa, the situation is worse. Almost 57% of all individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Africa are women and for Africans between the ages of 15-24 living with HIV/AIDS, women account for 76% of all infections.
