The War on the Poor

Crippled Avenger

Death to all Ablist Norms
I must thank all of you for paying for my Social Security. Keep on working and work harder so I can live my wonderful, rich life. LOL !! Just kidding. What I want to talk about is America's war on the poor.
Let me say personally that it sucks. You wonder why their is robbery? You wonder why people sling drugs to your kids? It's because people are poor and they DON'T GIVE A **** !!!
They figure if they must starve, they might as well rob you. And why is this the way it is ? Because you have declared WAR against us to the point that *I* often wonder if you want me to commit suicide. Why shouldn't we ?
Oh, and if you can I would apreciate some video documentation SHOWING America's undeclared war on us. I want to record it so there can be NO QUESTION that you have declared an unspoken, undeclared WAR on us.

1.Historically speaking, how has America carried out its warfare against the poor?
2. Who has benefited in this war against America's poor citizens ?
3. Has this WAR been carried out from America' foundation ?

Se ya.

Is there someone in particular you're addressing here? I'd suggest that there is a large, international community here, as well as American-folks of widely varied socio-economic stations.

So define your terms. Who counts as the 'enemy' for this particular rant. What constitutes the non-poor who have declared war on 'you' (ie. the American poor, I would assume)

I think there are some valid and important topics for discussion around this whole area. Gap between affluent and poor is problematic, and trending to become worse, for example. But there's not much to respond to sensibly based on your OP, to my mind.

I see it that way as well. After all, it's not like we're lacking for issues such as this one that just popped up on Google news which illustrates the difference between the treatment of the rich and poor.

1. But how do you define the poor? What percentage of the total US population do they comprise?
2. Nemesis of the poor are those who are rich. But who is rich depends on your definition in 1.
3. Probably yes, in a different guise. More likely to be tribal warfare between Natives and White colonial settlers on the East Coast. In material terms, the Natives were relatively 'poor' compared to the Whites.

Does anyone think this will be an issue in the 2016 election ? What if Hillary is the Dem candidate ?

I think Hill will make a good case for breaking down class distinction !!

Military pay is really low. Thus almost every soldier qualifies as poor. Which rich people are these poor soldiers currently deployed against?

Also, if a poor person wins the lottery, do they get attacked by poor people because this poor winner is no longer poor?

I grew up poor, and made myself better through hard work. Stop whining and do something about it.
Googy-goody for you. Except not all people have the ability to do that.

Most of the poor are what we call "working poor", namely that they have jobs with low pay and few to no benefits. Even if every single person in this country was hard working and had a ph.d., there still would be a fair number in poverty because of how the system works, and we actually saw an example of that in Israel when so many Russian Jews came in with good educations but couldn't find a job or only could find low-paying jobs.

Single mothers are especially hard put because day care is expensive, so having a part time or low-paying job just doesn't make it for them. Then there's the handicapped and the elderly.

I was responding to the OP, which says there is a 'war' on the poor. If there is, rich people need to learn how to fight. And I'm tired of the "I have no opportunity" shtick. Yes, there are incredibly slow people who will never be rich. Charles Darwin described the process. There are also incredibly unlucky people who will never be rich. It happens. For the rest of us, there is an opportunity to get out from under if we apply ourselves.

As the billionaire Warren Buffet said, "There's a class war going on in this country. My class started it, and my class is winning."

If everyone was healthy, well-educated, and highly motivated, we still would have problem with some poverty simply because of how our economy is structured. There are only so many jobs available at various levels. You may be tired of the "shtick", but I'm tired of those who blame all or most of the poor and show no compassion to those whom are struggling. We're seeing middle-income families slipping into poverty, for example, because of exorbitant medical expenses. The Great Recession has taken its toll on a great many Americans, and many have not recovered as the middle-class keeps slipping, the latter of which was predicted by many economists back even in the early 1980's.

I'm Canadian, so I don't know anyone going broke from medical bills. And as long as Americans keep voting for people who will sell them down the river, they'll keep living like that. Elect a socialist (a real one, not a Democrat) and get your house in order. That said, allow me to rephrase:

Just a short note to tell you that the person I like most in American politics is Bernie Sanders.
