"Sex refers to the anatomical and other biological differences between females and males that are determined at the moment of conception and develop in the womb and throughout childhood and adolescence. Females, of course, have two X chromosomes, while males have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome."

Modern day reinterpretation like they are changing history today.

I noted multiple sites on how it ruins the bone density creating multiple problems later in life.

Effects are the same whether for changing the body or treating cancer.

Short-term Side Effects of Hormone Therapy for Cancer

  • Breast tenderness or pain
  • Decreased sex drive
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Fatigue
  • Hot flashes
  • Menstrual changes
  • Mood changes
  • Sweating
  • Vaginal dryness or discharge

Long-term Side Effects of Hormone Therapy for Cancer

  • Blood clots
  • Brittle bones
  • Eyesight changes
  • Increased cardiovascular risks
  • Memory and mood problems
  • Weight gain

What are the risks of testosterone therapy for normal aging?

Testosterone therapy has various risks, including:

  • Worsening sleep apnea — a potentially serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts.
  • Causing acne or other skin reactions.
  • Stimulating noncancerous growth of the prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia) and growth of existing prostate cancer.
  • Enlarging breasts.
  • Limiting sperm production or causing testicles to shrink.
  • Stimulating too much red blood cell production, which contributes to the increased risk of forming a blood clot. A clot could break loose, travel through your bloodstream and lodge in your lungs, blocking blood flow (pulmonary embolism).

Also, some research shows that testosterone therapy can increase your risk of heart disease. More research is needed.\

Let's wait until they are old enough to understand what they are doing with the rest of their lives.

That would be because testosterone is the catalyst for calcium reuptake in the bones so what?

Edit: I've been on T for Osteoporosis and I'm a 36 y/o male that produces enough T.

Oh nooooo... Meanings and ideas change with new information. Oh whao is me.
Unless they are fabricated! After all, my picture shows I identify with a 7ft basketball player with more melanin... I'm just waiting for the draft to pick me up and pay me the big bucks like the pharmaceuticals and doctors are getting with there newfangled idea.

I'm sure that that people were smoking grass instead of cutting it were changing the information while high :D

Hi. I'm a sociologist. Gender is in my wheelhouse, and what @The Hammer posted is not "changing History"; it is widely accepted social science and has been for decades. Gender is not a "newfangled idea" and the fact that gender roles are cultural , and change over time, is also not "newfangled". Gender expression and gender norms vary across societies, and some societies (gasp!) even have cultural space for a "third gender" and always have (see the Native American "two-spirit people" as an example). In addition, biological sex (genetics, hormones, anatomy) occurs on a continuum in nature, in the animal and in the human world, so things are not neatly divided into a male/female binary universally. Before ridiculing social science, you might look into the facts first.

Where this all started....

I thought this all started with people freaking out that a woman may in fact have been born with the ability to grow a bit of facial hair and missed a shaving day.
(Which is a real thing, by the way.
One of my old girlfriends from Primary (elementary) school could actually legitimately grow a fairly strong moustache if she didn’t shave.)
But like I said, tech issues on my end, so I may have been out of the loop

Not ridiculing at all -- and "wildly accepted" - is an unquantifiable opinion. The concept has been propagated over the decades as an idea with the intention of changing society by liberal colleges. The ridiculousness of the concept is logically viewed as they keep adding to the count of genders as big as the imagination can take it and, when all else fails, no gender at all.

Anti-intellectualism is the norm here, so I'm not surprised by your stance. The concept of gender is not "ridiculous", and is not the result of "liberal colleges". You aren't really making any coherent statement here, just denying the diversity of gender and gender roles. I know that cultural change is hard, but it's happening whether you like it or not.

Actually, the vast majority of Americans think I am quite coherent while it seems like the elite have lost their common sense.

You have two genders and not (short list) 68 Terms That Describe Gender Identity and Expression

Biologically sound... I follow the science

Culturally ignorant and biologically over-simplified. You don't follow either the physical nor the social science. Culture changes. Like I said, I know it's hard but sticking your fingers in your ears won't make it stop.

Interpretations in everything changes as we learn more. Your poor arguments against this only show that you refuse to learn why this is a real thing. I know that you do not want it to be real, but in doing so you are guilty of what so many deniers claim of trans people. You are reasoning based upon feelings. In reasoning feelings do not matter very much.

America's view of transgender is pretty complex right now. There are multiple things going on, including the rise of the far right.

That being said, I'd say that a higher percent of Americans are supportive of there being many genders, than the percent of American politicians are that are supportive.

Things change. Like the modern idea there are four states of matter. It was just three states when I was a kid.

Most Americans believe in ghosts but that doesn't make them real. And we aren't talking if the social elites but medical experts.

I remember some of my early science books as a kid. They were enough to get me started, but when looking at them under a microscope, they were too simplified for a realistic view of things.

Had I listened to only basic science books, I might believe, for example, that global warming was just a cycle.

I reckon that the same is happening here a lot. Basic biology teaches that there are two genders. Advanced biology teaches there are additional nuances and genders.

Sorry, I didn’t mean that about your original post. Or even you.

I was being somewhat flippant about what I suspect caused the original complaints that the public apparently made. Which inspired this thread

I mean, trans women sporting beards? Which you commented was one of the alleged causes which caused the complaints
I’m sorry, but that does sound rather propaganda-y.
Either that or people are going out of their way to be non binary (a different sub space among trans inclusive spaces but usually not the same one as actual trans folks.)
Because like I said, a person going out of their way to transition to a female from male aren’t going to grow beards! That’s antithetical to their literal goal!

Something I thought about the other day....

If a cis-female is in a relationship with a transgender female(with no reassignment surgery).
Is the cis-female a lesbian or straight?

vice-versa

If a cis-male is in a relationship with a transgender male(with no reassignment surgery).
Is the cis-male a gay or straight

You'd think (I would), but it's becoming "a thing".

You can repeat the earth is flat 10,000 times... but it isn't flat. You can imagine 100 genders or non-binary but there is still two. Sometimes the most simple answers have the truth.
