It's rather rude, and as someone who has had some absolutely absurd and ridiculous things put in her mouth I kmow how that goes and I've spent far too much time having to correct people because they make bad assumptions and declare my thoughts and positions as though they are right even though they never are.
If someone didn't say it then don't say they did.

If that makes you happy! I just can't agree to a lie just because someone believes the lie. So we agree to disagree and still love people through their lives and living.

I have to add however, that the scientific community has a peer review procedure that helps to distinguish good science from "quack social science opinions".

Sometimes it's ok to just admit when we don't understand the walks people go through in their lives without calling them liars and passing judgement over them so cavalierly. It's a complicated topic you will never have to grapple with, and it sure is easy to comment on that when it doesn't effect you, seems to me

Do you think profit or politics ever influence medical experts?
Yet you believe a God exists while you know many reject these ideas, so you are on the other side of that. Yet you don't feel any compassion for those who you judge live a lie? What makes you so absolutely correct that you are beyond error and can judge others?
Is it love when you accuse others of living a lie? It would be you living a lie if you resisted natural impulses. We are aware of stories of conservatives who were gay, but worked very hard to suppress this impulse to a degree it led to self-destructive actions.
I think a politician is infinately more likely to be influenced by politics than a scientist. And I think there are procedures in place to try to weed out bias in scientific results.
As for profit, if you want to talk about single payer socialized medicine, and am so down for that conversation.

You really should because it's not a good look to claim someone said or thinks something that was never actually expressed. At its worst easily among the most dishonest tactics I have seen here, and at best indicates less than crap listening skills/reading comprehension.

No, I'm saying it's crap to put words into people's mouths. If they didn't say it then don't claim they did. You knew damn well he wouldn't have agreed with tbat statement and his position is not congruent with your claim but you said it anyways.

If you think medicine should be not-for-profit, we have no disagreement.
If you want to say medical experts, fine.

There is an area if overlap between the two.
I think they certainly can. They are still human at the end of the day.
But part of me wonders if this might be more of a thing in the US. Not saying that it would be uniquely American, obviously, but that the for profit healthcare system the US uses maybe allows for this to occur more frequently, perhaps?
I mean, our medical experts aren’t exactly begging on the streets. Don’t get me wrong. They’re rolling in the cash, certainly
But it’s not like you hear of them getting “sponsored” or getting big cash incentives from medical companies to promote X. I have heard of companies doing this in the US, though.
Since our government buys most if not all of our medicine and indeed all medicine has to first prove its cost effective before it’s even considered. I don’t know if big brand companies can even do this in my country. At least not legally
I’m not at all suggesting that American medical experts should not be believed or treated with more suspicion. They attend world renowned education institutions and certainly more than earn their credentials
And even just having sponsors isn’t a guaranteed negative
Like just because a company funds a certain study, doesn’t automatically make that study null and void, for example.
But it probably is better to look at international consensus, when it comes to medicine and medical application overall.
