A thought:
There is only one thing that I can be certain about in this Universe - and that is - that I will Die.
Therefore, the only True thing I know is Death.
What if God is Death - you literally give your Life to Death.. Thus life is an offering made unto Death - the more you live the more experiences you have, the more you have to give your God.
Death comes to us All... no matter what creed.
Why not worship Death? As it is to worship Life. Worship Death by living your Life.
I would alter this to read:
There is only one thing that I can be certain about in this Universe - and that is - change will continue, infinitely and forever. Even so-called "death" is a form of change, albeit a rather final change from the physical perspective. Another thing I can be certain of is that there will always be an aspect of reality, that to me, remain unknown. It doesn't matter how much I ever understand, there will always be so much more I do not understand - of that, I am certain - and that is just speaking in purely physical terms.
Indeed, it is true that death comes to us all. The venerable Don Juan Matus said to the young Carlos, "Death is always stalking us."
Journey to Ixtlan said:
"Yes", he said softly after a long pause, "One of us here has to change and fast. One of us here has to learn again that death is a hunter, and that it is always to one's left. One of us here has to ask death's advice and drop the cursed pettiness that belongs to men that live their lives as if death will never rap them."
(Later)
"So save your good wishes. There is no need to see your death either. It is sufficient that you feel its presence around you'."
So, though I would not advise worshiping death, per se, I think it wise to seek death's
advice. The act of doing so is naturally humbling, when your own mortality is placed next to whatever problem you are currently facing.
Another wonderful saying attributed to Don Juan was something like, "Live each moment of life as if it was your last moment on earth." The idea being that you are concentrated in the moment, like a coiled spring, apprehending reality to the fullest, as the act may be your proverbial last stand.
Hope this is somewhat helpful... For the record, I have no desire to get into the validity of Carlos Castaneda's writing, as actual events, as his works stands well even as fiction.
