They Still Don't Get It. 'Over-strict' Abuse Guidelines Anger Priests

BUDDY

A growing number of priests are protesting about "over-strict" interpretations by bishops of Catholic Church guidelines on dealing with those accused of child sex abuse.
They believe priests are too often stood aside from ministry - and their reputations irreparably damaged - on the basis of flimsy allegations.
Speaking to The Irish Times last night, National Conference of Priests of Ireland president Fr John Littleton said there was growing concern among priests at "overstrict" interpretations of the guidelines.
Many Catholic priests seem not to understand, that sue to the inaction of the church when confronted with a sexual abuse charge, every case has to be taken seriously. Every case of child accusing the church of abuse has to be taken seriously, if priests are ever going to learn that the church can't be used to shield and hide deviant behavior.

It would be nice to see the guidelines to get a fuller picture. Nonetheless I agree Buddy. If a child raises a flag, it should be taken very serious no matter how whiney some priest may get.
