Who is Gladys Knight?
Just to throw more fuel on the fire, there was a Knight & Maher tire shop in a town near where I grew up. Maybe it is still there. I regret still that I did not buy a 69 Road Runner they had for sale many, many years ago. For me, my folly is a thing of nightmares.

It would at my house, too.
It is a very important parental issue in early childhood development that is best not mentioned at graduation ceremonies. Considering it potentially becomes an issue greater than college or career choice, you'd think it might be something to talk about, but no, definitely no.

When my sister was hired at my former job(group home), a boss warned her with a straight face "you're going to hear a lot about BM here. Both that of the clients', and that of the staff".

That's a lot to learn in one day.
Growing up, Dr. Mom could be amazingly unconcerned about who might be around when discussing her patients issues. Sometimes, it might be while passing the spaghetti.

That's a cul-de-sac you don't want to go down with @JustGeorge.
A blind gut perhaps. I grew up in a household where that was table discussion.

I recall the first time I spent overnight in a hospital as an adult. Here I am, mid-40's, job that paid well, all the trimmings of may age bracket, more or less, and suddenly I am the center of attention of five or six very attractive young women that only want to know if my bowels are working. I had flashbacks to growing up.

And then there was very my first sponge bath. I was really enjoy myself. You could tell by how I wanted to crawl under the bed and go unnoticed. I'm not even sure what personal taboo that triggered, but I made it through.

When I got diagnosed with lymphoma I was 38 and still going to the same GP I had been going to as a kid. I told him about the lump on my groin which I now know was a swollen lymph node and he says take your pants off, then it was shirt, undies and left sock. Anyway the doc was getting kind of old and his eye sight wasn't the best so he called in his nurse/receptionist who happened to be someone I went through school with from kindergarten to when I had left. Lying on your back wearing nothing but one sock is a fun way to catch up with old friends.

"Be strong", I whispered to my coffee.

Kind of reminds me of hubbies tale...

When he had his prostate cancer op he was told by the surgeon to strip completely. He left the room and two female nurses walked in, one in her 30s the other an attractive trainee in her early 20s

He tells me you loose all inhibitions when you are shaved from chest to ankles by two, by this time they were beautiful women
