Hopefully this "Putin as liberator and victim" mentality in the West doesn't extend to any Alaskan interests Putin might have.

I doesn't really make me wonder. I see no connection between a Chinese surveillance balloon and Russian fighters playing their usual games.

The testing of borders by USA, Russia/Soviet Union, China, European nations, etc., has been going on for decades now...as I understand it, virtually every day, somewhere, air crews fly to and along the territory of potentially enemy nations--sometimes even friendly nations--to test the response of the other...

It's nothing new, and not even that disturbing...unfortunately...

I had a boss once who had been in the Navy and knew/heard a bit of the games hot shot jet jockeys from the USSR and USA used to play over the waters between the countries.

I suspect in this case, it's more a matter of political posturing
