Things that restore your hope in humanity

Ok, I'm going to be blunt here. As a general rule I don't like people, everywhere you look there's poverty, war, intolerance and misery. Still, every so often you come across something that gives you a little hope. It could be something major, it could be something small. Whatever it is, post it here :)

For me, I like the small things. I like it when a group of people get together to brighten up somebody's day. I found a couple of videos on youtube of people organising an event where they go into the general public and do something funny. These are two of my favourites:

I love the fact that these people have the guts to do this in public and it would make my day to see something like this in real life. Even something as simple as dancing on a train is enough to make people remember the event and break up the monotony of day to day life. IMO people need to do this sort of thing more often, especially in the current economic climate where people everywhere are struggling to find something simple to enjoy.

When I see people doing good/nice/helpful things for others. And as something as small as a smile.

Good thread topic!

Along the lines of the OP, when I see people able to laugh at themselves, honestly and humbly admit they're wrong, and put effort into changing someone else's life for the better, I'm inspired.

Free Hugs. Nothing could restore hope for humanity more than that.

Okay....well, besides Kilgore Trout tied up in a chair. That would do it for me.

It's getting....well....oh my....

NICE to meet you, Mystic. :D

Midwest? Me too!

Except I'm in southern Illinois, which is depressingly insane in that it can't quite make up it's mind if it wants to be A Little Bit Country or if it wants to be A Little Bit Rock and Roll.

Other than that...hope you're enjoying your time at RF! :hugehug:

Ha, that's funny! I'm in Minnesota, which can't decide whether to be cold or Stay-The-Ever-Loving-Mother-F-Inside freezing. That's the official term for windchill below a certain point.

Hugs back to you! Thank you for the lovely welcome!

I definitely agree that the small things can be the most beautiful of them all. The grand gestures are wonderufl, of course, but the little things are so surprisingly nice. Something as little as a stranger telling me that I dropped my ring in the grocery store or holding the door when your hands are full. Everyone makes mistakes, does things that disappoint others, and doesn't always do the 'right' thing, but then someone will do these little things and you realize that we are all human, but there is good in this world. Sometimes it is things that we need to focus on.

I have a lot of faith in humanity. I find hope mainly in actions that demonstrate someone is putting others before themselves - sharing, caring, loving, etc. This is especially a blessing when we see it in children.

IMHO, its the minority that's ruining it for everyone. There are some people who are truly evil.
