Thinking of swearing an oath

Of course it's alright.

Very disappointing if you don't answer it though.
I can pm the answer to you if you like and but only if I feel your reason for wanting to know is good. I just don't feel like placing it here

Thats why I dont get the point of pledges an oaths. A person is honest or not, and a ritual wont change that. Words often contradict intention. Uphold it or not, silly rituals with their stage drama, scrpit, and props and paraphernalia. Thinking it all the way through, it makes me possibly suspicious of people who need it, much to the same degree and manner as those who believe you need religion to be moral.
I think that historically an oath meant that you'd be punished if you didn't follow through, so an oath would have force only if you believed in the assuring power...back in the day. At times I guess the power of the god or of God was backed up by the power of the state. At other times it was not I guess. Other times it was backed up by the community. Pirate oaths for example were backed up by the pirate crew.

1.I want to be in her service. The oath would be made to her so that she'll take me under her wing and her protection.

2.The gods communicate in a variety of ways....signs, dreams, meditation... if she wants me to know I will
Isn't abstaining from marriage abstaining from an oath? Perhaps this might be why maidens are under Artemis's protection? Because they are not under oath/protection from someone else? Do these maidens need to make an oath to Artemis to be under her protection or not? Do you need to make an oath in order to be loved? There are plenty of loveless marriages out there to disprove that an oath is a guarantee of love. Perhaps that is Artemis's point?

So i'm thinking about swearing an oath to the goddess Artemis. Swearing to remain a virgin and never marry in exchange for protection knowledge and being in her service. I'm not sure tho..."But Ray" I can hear you saying...."Why not? You're asexual right? You don't experience sexual attraction.Should be an easy oath to keep." Well I'm not aromantic. What if I fall in love and want to get marry? What are the consequences of breaking such an oath? What if Aphrodite gets ticked since according to some myths she has a rivalry with Artemis? What then? So I'm still thinking on it. But this makes me curious.Has anyone here made any religious oaths? If so how did it go?

I once made a promise to my Master ... others got dreams from my Master, and I wanted Him to come into my dream. Many years nada, njiente, not even 1 dream. And my Master also said "you only can see me in your dreams if I Will it".

I also read from my Master, being Shiva incarnation, that Shiva is very easy to please, and best to please when you offer (give up) your biggest desire. No doubt, my nr. 1 desire was eating nice food in large quantity (and I liked everything, except raw food). I just learned Indian cuisine (Hare Krishna book full of delicacies).

I happened to read a book in which my Master explained why raw food is very healthy. In short: "of all the 84 Lakh species, 1 specie cooks the food and that 1 specie gets most diseases".

So without thinking twice, I made my promise "If you come into my dream, I know it's good for me to go on a raw vegan diet immediately for life".
From that day my Master kept His part of 'my deal' and came into my dream every night, as I was eating raw every day, until ...

First 2 weeks were easy. I learned a lot from 'my promise' ..... That part (the lessons) was not always easy, but I learned many good lessons from it.

That's a pretty good point.

If that's a person's honest intention - why the need for a public announcement?

I think a remember hearing, reading (or whatever) something about publicly exclaiming one's piety as being one of the most obnoxious things a person could possibly do - specifically in religious contexts but more broadly just as behaving in the world generally.
Personally, it gives me reason to doubt and not trust them. They shouldn't tell me I can trust they should demonstrate this through actions. Someone telling me they are just makes me wonder why this person finds it necessary to point out what we hope is a base value of people in general.

It's not owed to you. Spiritual experiences are often deeply personal. I know I wouldn't feel an obligation to tell you or anyone else. They may also simply be asleep.

In one of my above posts, I specifically said it wasn't owed to me or anyone for that matter. And I don't appreciate you implying obnoxious characteristics about me for no reason.

Of course it's alright.

Very disappointing if you don't answer it though.

Maybe read the whole thread before addressing me like that.

He's been Personal Messaging me today about this very issue and seemed very eager to explain his spiritual experiences to me. And I am intrigued.
