I completely disagree.
In fact, I will flat out state for the official record that this exact attitude is a MAJOR part of the problem.
i know what you mean. i don't treat kids as if they're stupid or they could not understand thoughts. i treat them as the way i treat an adult --except i don't catch and kiss adults-- thinking 'a ten year old would not get it' is not what i am talking about.
Just kids?
Only do what they see?
Are you serious?
Spoken like someone who has not been around children much.
well, yea..i am serious. there are always some trouble kids, no doubt about that. but all the violent movies and example characters, such as murderers, definitely give children an option, like another colour in their hands to use.
Children should be made responsible for their actions.
Especially if they know said actions are wrong.
i guess you thought i believe they are not responsible of their doings. it is probably my bad. we all had a process during our childhood to distinguish between right and wrong and we made mistakes by accident or cos of curiosity. problem i see is that my parents never needed to tell me that that would be wrong if i killed my teacher. today's parents need to mention that. i have no doubt the reason why is media, what children see, any possible action could be done by men. they se it and during that learning process they are trying stuff. maybe they are just curios or they are nasty. what i am saying is you can't blame a little kid for that. that's what kids do. they do mistakes. but they can't be judged as an adult. if these kids were happended to kill their teacher, what court could do to them. send them to jail for lifetime? that is out of question. i am glad they didnot manage to do so.
What difference does it make?
honestly, what difference does it make?
Do you think that children are stupid robots who cannot/will not think for themselves?
Who cannot come up with things on their own?
What is the "magic" age when self awareness and knowledge of right and wrong happens?
no, in fact children are much smarter than both of us.
if a kid do wrong it is acceptable. because they experience to learn themselves. society give them major tools, options, role models..it's not unexpected if a kid pick a model role (say from a movie as it happens a lot) to try out. not just kids. remembering some murders after watching 'natural born killers'
These children knew what they were doing was wrong, yet they proceeded anyway.
They need to be made to take responsibility for their actions.
when a kid tells lie, he knows he is doing something wrong. i believe every kid does it some times. but killing your teacher, well, when i was kid i did not even think of such a thing. because back then, movies were not this violent yet. now in the movies, there are scenes that really looks like real. if a kid did watch Dexter for example, what kind of influence he could get? isn't dexter the guy admirable? you tell me..
