Fortunately, such groups are really a minority of voters.
Unfortunately, such groups are a very loud and vocal minority, and they do tend to vote with more consistency than other groups, which may not bode well as more people become disenfranchised and uninterested in the political process.

Politics seem to presented as too difficult for the masses.
Many people, that I know anyways, seem to just go for the candidate that says the most stuff they like.
Or they vote for whichever party they were raised to vote for.
It takes a simple change in school education, one semester of Government and one of political tactics.

Naive and under educated voters makes me want for a law where you need a certain level of political education to vote.

Ted Cruz (the so-called GOP intellectual), continues to fight for, and gain credibility, flogging the "religious liberty" meme. wow!

Am I missing something here, is there any grey area in the law?
It's pandering.
I'm sure that Mr Cruz will carefully cry religious liberty only where it's effective with
this particular voting base. He won't advocate that Xians should be able to discriminate
in housing based upon race, family status & sexual orientation.
He, like Obama, are supposedly experts on the Constitution, but that doesn't stop'm
from strained personal interpretations or walking all over it in pursuit of of votes.

Every time something bad happens to christians it is often labeled as persecution.

A few years back some muslims in India killed some christians. I remember hearing from family members about how terrible it was that christians were being persecuted and that a half dozen had even been killed. I silenced them by pointing out that over 80 hindus were also killed in the attacks that year.

But at least in India it is a real problem. In this country I've never heard of any serious persecution specifically against christians.
