Thon/thons/thonself

VoidCat

Use any and all pronouns including neo and it/it's
It's a singular gender neutral pronoun that dates pronoun in english that was coined back in 1858 and gained popularity in 1888. I thought I would bring it back and use it as my preferred pronouns alongside they/them. Doesn't matter if you use they/them over thon or vise versa just letting y'all know it's a pronoun I'll be happy if anyone uses it

While I personally have no issue with honoring people's self-identity and using their preferred pronouns, I worry that more obscure pronouns may cloud communication and only be discernible to those already familiar with them.

I don't imagine the vast majority of people will understand what I mean if I use "xir" or "thon" in a formal document or as a third-person reference to someone. Regardless of what we think about the larger conversation surrounding pronouns, lack of clarity deems almost any linguistic construct potentially problematic until said lack of clarity is resolved.

I think folk would realize based on context clues it's a pronoun. I mean even pronouns I never heard when I saw them used I immediately knew it was a pronoun.

Also the only way for pronouns that aren't commonly used to be less obscured is for it to be used
