Nothing wrong with making up your own oath.
For me, I just let actual nature provide whatever path it lays out its own accord and terms. I really have no need to make up one of my own because all roads lead to Rome as they say.
When I'm driving, I tend to follow the beaten path. Making my own path really does a number on my suspension and bodywork.
Ended up marking almost all the options, because if I'm honest about the nature of human lives (mine or others) all threads in the tapestry are a product of the weave around them whether or not they like to think of themselves as threading their own path. It is not difficult for me to examine past events in my life and understand how they shaped particular directions, even if on the surface it appears I was going "against the grain" of what some would expect. Fate doesn't care about human expectations - it shapes the world how it must.

Who beats the paths you drive on? Where exactly do you live? That sounds very primitive.
I've seen Beiler Brothers Paving trucks working on some of the paths I drive.
