So it took 4 billion years of evolution to get from a single celled organism to terrestrial plants but only 1 million years to get from primates to humans? Strange.

It's pretty weird that we are on a giant ball of dirt, hurtling around the sun. By all appearances, the sun revolves around us. And many ancients used to believe just that. But centuries of study and observation have shown that the beliefs to which we are inclined are false. The Earth is round, and it goes around the sun.

Just because something seems counter-intuitive or puzzling is not grounds to dismiss the idea.

Yep. Especially if we compare the appearance of multicellular life, which took over a billion years, but can be easily produced in a lab with the appearance of life on earth, which basically happened as soon as it was possible, but we still don't know in detail how.
It's one of the better arguments for panspermia (but I don't believe in that).

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

Probably due to all the bad weather forecasts.

Today's weather, rampant meteor impacts with a chance of severe radiation followed by volcanic ash fallout.

By the time plants evolved most of the hard work had been done. Simple steps from there... You are after all 35% daffodil and 60% banana
