Time Travel

Muffled

Jesus in me
So Bones in the TV series Bones says it is scientifically impossible. I belive however that it is possible because of what God told me about time. He said all of time exists in a cycle. That should mean that a person can travel to that place in time that still exists. What do you think?

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
If I could time travel, I would go to the Field of the Cloth of Gold in 1520. I wouldn't change history in any way.

I believe in changing history. Why keep repeating the same mistakes? Interesting enough it is possible that spirits return to bodies to do it all over again but perhasps in different bodies and roles.

Time travel is a fascinating concept in both science and science fiction. While it remains speculative, there are some theoretical frameworks in physics where time travel might be possible under certain conditions.

Time Travel to the Future: According to Albert Einstein's theory of relativity, time is not absolute and can be affected by factors like gravity and speed. As you approach the speed of light, time for you would slow down relative to someone who is not traveling at that speed—this is called time dilation. In theory, if a person were to travel at near-light speeds, they could experience time more slowly than people on Earth, effectively "time traveling" into the future. This has been observed in experiments with particles moving at high speeds, and astronauts aboard the International Space Station experience tiny amounts of time dilation compared to people on Earth.

Time Travel to the Past: Traveling back in time is far more speculative. Some solutions to Einstein's equations, such as wormholes (hypothetical tunnels in spacetime) or closed timelike curves, suggest it might be possible to travel backward in time. However, these concepts remain theoretical, and we currently have no practical way of creating or maintaining a wormhole, let alone using it for time travel. Additionally, time travel to the past raises paradoxes, like the famous grandfather paradox, which questions whether a person could alter past events in a way that would prevent their own existence.

In summary, time travel to the future is theoretically possible based on current physics, though it's not practically achievable with our existing technology. Time travel to the past, however, remains highly speculative and is fraught with unresolved paradoxes and theoretical challenges.

Is it possible, eh. Is it probable, probably not. But the idea fascinates me. I'd like for it to be so.

Usually science catches up eventually. Physicists are already used to the weird so they will try anything.

Yes, what happens is science works and religion guesses. Sometimes, very occasionally, they get the bronze age guess to be fairly accurate, no idea how, they simply cannot explain it so fall back on the good old God can do it, no evidence whatsoever to show and cannot show their guess works in any form whatsoever.

You know what amazes me? The International Time :Line. One time when we were stationed in Japan, my dad flew across it three times and had three birthdays! Ever since then, I have known that linear time is something made up.

Oh and I live near the line between Central Time and Eastern Time in the US. Weird how it gets dark so, so early around here but it's an hour
"behind me" just down the road.

Time travel is possible, but, doing so changes nothing. Maybe that's what they meant?

No one can go back in time to change the past, present or future. Time-travel presumes that all events are eternal. Because of this, the time-travel-event, itself, is eternal. Any consequences of the time-travel-event, are also eternal. Nothing changes.

I think it's scientifically impossible because how come no one has come back from the future?

I have no idea if time travel will become a reality or not, or what rules would govern it. But this I know for certain: God never told you any such thing.

I think it would cause you a lot of trouble.
When travelling to the past was possible, cause and effect would no longer exist. I.e. all the arguments for god from an "unmoved mover" would be void.
If I could travel to the past, I could prevent a lot of suffering - which god couldn't or wouldn't have done.
Time travel isn't good for you or your god.

And time travel is something else than time existing in a cycle (cycles). We recognize some specific cycles, like day and night, the seasons, Milenkovic cycles, etc. There is also a hypothesis that the universe is cyclical (Big Crunch).

Abdul'baha offeres this.

O servant of Bahá! Be self-sacrificing in the path of God, and wing thy flight unto the heavens of the love of the Abhá Beauty, for any movement animated by love moveth from the periphery to the centre, from space to the Day-Star of the universe. Perchance thou deemest this to be difficult, but I tell thee that such cannot be the case, for when the motivating and guiding power is the divine force of magnetism it is possible, by its aid, to traverse time and space easily and swiftly. Glory be upon the people of Bahá.
