Tolerance and society!

HTML clipboardTolerance and the society

Nowadays in our society it is common a thought about development. It is thought how we are year by year more sensible, clever, braver and more developed than the previous generations. Many think also that they are objective, wise and tolerant, and that the opinions of others do not influence their opinions and views. Anyone does not want at least to admit that he would be narrow-minded and limited and that he would not think for oneself.

But, but; there is also other side in the matter, which is, that we are children of our own time much more than we think. It means that the surrounding society influences our thoughts and opinions much more than we believe. In every time there are certain thoughts, views and attitudes that work on our own intellectual world. If we deny the influence of them, we are certainly not honest with ourselves.

I agree and think the exceptional finding that there is one God awaits each one of us, giving us the ability to change our lives for the better. When we understand the true meaning of one God, our concept of god expands and builds a greater awareness of God’s presence within us. It is a journey towards unity and a new way of living. As we progress on this journey to oneness, we find our lives gradually transformed in a positive way, which includes both the conscious and the unconscious. This balance brings the discovery of a new reality along with a balance between the rational and the irrational, between the intellect and instinct, and between the conscious mind and the unconscious. As we acquire unity, we see that nothing exist in isolation so the nature of our being is unity, a unity of body, mind and spirit. Wholeness or holiness can be achieved with a watchful mind and the knowledge that everything is united in God, if old fears, doubts and prejudices wear away to make room for new ideas and understanding.

I like to think of society in terms of a pendulum; a generation believes in a thing and thinks it good. Later generations deny the thing and feel liberated, as though they are breaking away from useless cobwebs inherited from past generations. If a problem arises and silently creeps in because of the new belief or way of doing things, the pendulum swings back the other way when it's recognized. And then the cycle repeats. Every generation is involved this kind of silent battle with the one that came before it but there really is nothing new under the sun.

You can counter the effects of impersonal influences (since our human tribes are so large nowadays, and with TV and radio, they are by definition impersonal) by sticking your head in the sand like an ostrich and not playing the games other people want you to play, though it's impossible to do so without withdrawing from society. Still, being aware of the game that's being played lets you guard against it a little. :)
