Top 5 TV Series

Viker

Your beloved eccentric Auntie Cristal
I watch little tv and so don't get hooked on tv series. The last few i watched regularly are.
ST,TNG.
Last of the summer wine (hilarious)
Allo, Allo (also hilarious)
Bread (also hilarious)
Red Dwarf (also hilarious)

Thats 5 but I want to add.

The 3 "Wonders of ....." By Brian Cox
And
"The incredible human journey" by Alice Roberts.
And
Most of the BBCs Horizon programs.
Come to think of it, Nova and Cosmos belong on my faves list. There's just so many good shows.

List your Top 5 TV series in no particular order

For me:

Breaking Bad
Invincible
Supernatural (Seasons 1-5 only, the rest I enjoy but don't include in my headcanon)
Lost
Midnight Mass (so long as they don't make another season :p)
I stopped watching TV a long time ago since I did not have time, except that I would watch Forensic Files late at night, just before going to sleep, to help me sleep. However, since I have cut back on posting on forums I have started watching some TV late at night. I like any shows that are related to crime and law so I like Dateline and the Investigation Discovery channel. My favorite shows in this order are:

Law & Order
Monk
Criminal Minds
Forensic Files
Dateline

Some seasons I like more than others and some are terrible, but in general, these are series that I have really enjoyed :)

Game of Thrones
Boardwalk Empire
Spartacus
Walking dead
Fawlty Towers
True Blood
Lost
House of Dragon (So far, very good)
Stranger things
Altered Carbon
Fringe
Band of Brothers
Arcane
Umbrella Academy
X-Files
Star trek (Obviously only the old ones)

A bit more than 5, but in general I think all of these have something to offer that is good.
Wow Nimos, that is along list of shows! The only one of those I have watched is X-Files.
I think what TV shows one watches can tell us something about that person. I like crime and law shows so that is all I ever watch. My friend on another forum used to tell me I should have been an attorney since I like to argue cases with atheists, but I don't do that so much anymore. :D

I didn't think of forensic files and dateline as TV series.

I used to watch forensic files but they started showing all reruns.

Dateline every now and then.

No, those are not really a TV series and yes, Forensic Files is mostly reruns and I have seen them all, so I started watching other shows like Law & Order, which is my favorite, the old shows. I have not watched the new Law & Order.

I don't know if Aerial America on the Smithsonian channel is considered a TV series but it has to be my favorite show to watch.

I am especially interested in geography as I have two college degrees in it. I used to love to travel but I never travel anymore so watching that channel is the next best thing to being there.

Funny, we'd practically stopped watching tv but lockdown got us checking things out and we've ended up watching a lot of good stuff - so much I've forgotten half of what we watched! We're buggers for crime dramas... Anyhoo...the ones that spring immediately to mind are:

Boardwalk Empire
Cardinal
Unforgotten
Last Tango in Halifax
Ripper Street
McMafia
Time
Happy Valley
Luther
Des
Guilt

I'd better stop....

ooh

Top 5 (ish) for me would be, in no particular order
Stargate SG1: This for me was essentially my version of Star Trek. I’m too young to have seen either series when they aired. Caught a few reruns since but with Stargate I eagerly anticipated every episode as they aired. It was my introduction into Sci Fi and despite the main characters being literal US military, they were fairly “peaceful.” Again for US military types lol
In hindsight it’s probably a bit propaganda-y. But I’m not American so eh

Third Rock from the Sun. A comedy involving aliens trying to study humanity only to wind up getting more caught up in their own day to day drama. Much to the chagrin of their commander lol. I think it was overall pretty charming and the dynamics were an interesting commentary on human social structures. Like the “eldest” supposed Patriarch, Richard was actually much younger than the teenage Tommy in their alien forms and therefore looked up to him and saw him as a role model for much of the series. Also it’s my childhood lol

Kath and Kim. Just out of sheer national obligation really. An iconic Aussie classic comedy. Love this show! We would endlessly quote it in Primary (Elementary) School. Hell even our teachers did.

Hannibal. As I’m a big Thomas Harris fan this was a treat. Seeing Hannibal in his “prime.” How he was able to manipulate folks so effortlessly and how intellectual he was.

Xena Warrior Princess. The superior spin off to Hercules the Legendary Adventures (and I will die on this hill, dammit!!)
Helped fuel my interest in mythology and folklore. Though it did become a bit weird and dare I say preachy near the end. But whatever

The Sopranos. What can I say? An awesome drama involving essentially the premise of Analyse This/That lol
Brilliant though

Malcolm in the Middle. Again this is just because I grew up watching it but it was so much fun and the chaos was epic lol

Frasier was a cute little sitcoms that I loved as a kid

Boardwalk Empire. Just awesome

Peaky Blinders. Which is essentially the British version of Boardwalk really lol. Though set a bit before that I think. Also Aunt Polly is a certified madlad! I love her!!!

I have to echo thoughts of Breaking Bad being awesome lol
Ahh there’s too many to mention
Special shout outs to the various crime dramas I love. I have a sweet tooth for them. Even as I acknowledge how formulaic they are lol
CSI Miami, Cold Case, NCIS, Law and Order SVU etc

I don't watch TV, I'm done watching random reality stuff there, as you can almost feel yourself getting dumber and dumber by the minute :)

Also, have a big interest in TV shows and movies in general, kind of like a hobby :)

You might like True Detectives, it's about some cops trying to investigate a cult.

And maybe Fargo as well. :)

Also, Ozark should be on the list, that is really good as well. (Will probably add it.)

I haven't watched any of them, I like shorter more compact tv shows. Where you follow a story or what to say and not a new case each time. If im not mistaken that is what these are right?

I think X files, is probably the only show like this on my list.

Thanks Nimos but as you might recall I do not have Netflix so I cannot get any HBO series, although I can get some HBO movies through my xfinity cable. Needless to say I don't have time to watch much TV given I have to take care of eight cats and three houses, and I work full time, and I am a single woman trying to do all of this. All I can say these days is "God help me!" if you're out there. :D:(

All the ones I listed are a new show every time, they are not a continuation of the week before.
I am not organized enough to follow a continuing TV series, I just grab and go and watch whatever is available when I finally have time to watch TV late at night.
