Do you think most if not all of us are gonna die from nuclear war?

If Russia and the USA started nuking each other, how would the rest of the world fare?

Unlikely. But a time for cool heads in NATO and the US.

The best preparation against dying in a nuclear war is a ticket to Australia or New Zealand. Most of the war will take place in the northern hemisphere and that is where most of the radioactive dust will settle. When all of nature on a continent wants to kill you or some crazy humans with nukes, avoid the humans.

We don't know the probability of nuclear war happening, so stop thinking about it and if you live anywhere close or in the likely target zones, there is nothing you can do about as a prepper.
Now if you can get to the southern hemisphere, get a group together and organize then yes, you could make it. But in worst case you have to plan for a couple of years with extreme weather, because of nuclear winter.

I don't think all humans would likely die but there's a very likely chance somewhere along the line there'll be a strategic nuclear war. After all, the U.S. already used them, lest we forget.

I have not seen Hollywood movies about nuclear war and how it will go. So, I guess US have not planned it yet.

A few tactical, nuclear shells or cruise missiles are unlikely to annihilate the human species. That's not to say they won't escalate things considerably, or even become a generalized nuclear conflict.
Hopefully, a mad Putin will be overridden by cooler heads, should it come to that.

I believe the USA has run a number of wargame scenarios involving Russia, the USA, and NATO, for this particular situation. Not sure that any one of them came through as the best though, and as pointed out, escalation is quite likely, especially if Putin stays in control.

Best not to dwell on all this, given we can't really do anything. But then at my age that isn't so horrible. If we get through this, I hope those younger would insist that all nuclear weapons are consigned to history - along with anything of similar capability. Given we can't really afford to play dice with the future of humanity.

Nope.

All nuclear war does (and more more generally) is lay bare structural problems with how human civilization is set up at present. It isn't the nukes themselves that would be responsible for the vast majority of deaths. The cascade effects - like mass starvation - would be. That can be kicked off by any sufficient disruption to the structures of a civilization. It's happened many times in the past, and it will happen many times in the future until humanity's inevitable extinction.

The sort of people that think Trump would be more likely to get into a war said the same thing before he was elected and during his Administration. Yet he didn't start any wars.

Don't forget, it was Obama/Biden who emboldened Putin by letting him have Crimea and gave Iran a guaranteed path to gain nuclear weapons. Then there was their part in the war in Syria. Biden is a peace disaster.

Trump is mad, driven by narcissism and does not listen to rational advice from experts. He'd be catastrophically dangerous in this situation.

For a start, he would not care a damn about the fate of Ukraine. And we already know he does not care a damn about the fate of Europe.
